anybody know of any high quality 1 watt all tube amps. i dont care if it is a head or a combo. i just need very low power for bedroom levels. even STRATSANDAKS' 5 watt silverface fender champ is loud as hell(and sounds damn good too).

i play rock, country, and blues type stuff with a mexi-strat loaded with american strat pickups. i currently have a Vox Pathfinder 15R that sounds very nice for a solidstate amp. but i want to get another tube amp that i can push with my STRATDELUXER modded DS-1. the solidstate sounds good, but i know the potential with tubes is so much greater having had a Fender Blues Deville 410.

thanks in advance guys.

thanks in advance guys.Zvex nano amp! It's a head, and I must say it sounds great...I have wanted one since they came out, but just can't stand the idea of that much money (they are just over $400.00) for something that woiuld truthfully see very little use. You could also look into a Smokey amp, I have one of those and it've very cool...it a half watt, solid state, with a little plastic speaker, but it will drive a 4x12 cab and actually sounds cool...plus they are like $20.00!

I don´t know much about one watt amps outside of the Mini Marshalls (which are still surprisingly loud), but here are a few links that I was able to google...

FWIW

the Nanohead, its one of the best sounding amps ive heard, perfect for the studio or practicing at home

I owned a 1.5W Doberman. Based on that experience, I hope you're not expecting any clean tones at above AM radio volumes. The amp I had could do AC/DC at loud TV volume but didn't really have useful clean tones.

Another consideration is having the right speakers. A lot of speakers aren't gonna work with very low power amps.

If you can find an old Hughes and Kettner Cream Machine, that was a 1 watt tube amp. It also doubled as a nice smooth distortion box.

This one is 5 watts... but it's got a volume knob!

pignose?

The nano head rocks! I have played one with a fuzz pedal infront of it, absolutely wicked sound.

check out the Gilmore Jr. amp kit at guytronix.com. Sound samples sound wicked. I think I'm going to try and build one of these.

if the Nanohead isnt your thing, try a Cornford Harlequin

from : localhost/amp, 6w, nice and simple.

though other than my experiences with the nanohead ive seen many great reviews about it, usually gettin full marks in guitar mags.

keep your eyes peeled for quot;guitar tube paquot; on ebay - modded tube PAs. usually low wattage (5-10 watts)

I sometimes use one of those mini-Marshalls for small rehearsals with acoustic piano and acoustic guitar and un-amplified singing. I then have a Axe 1500g and can make most of the sounds I need. But I have to say: 1 w is too small. It is always distorted, even on low volumes. An amp with 2,5 w or even 5 w, will probably be more useable.

Bah, who needs clean anyway!

Dear Kyuss Rock: I see you still are a young man.

Anyone know what that Epiphone All valve 5 watt amp costs?

139

I can get very usable clean and distorted tones at bedroom levels with my Crate Club 20 (20w). It means turning the master volume down all the way so it's just preamp tubes, but it still sounds good. You should be able to find one for under $200.

The Bumbox Lead 1 gets nice mentions.
