I'm new to guitar.. I have a Squier Strat and I was thinking about putting hot rails along with laces.. That being said, does it matter where you put it? My friends tell me to put the best pickup on the bridge position. why? and finally, What combination should I go for? I play mostly blues, Like Clapton and A lil rock, So I figured Hot Rails with laces would be good for it.

the hotter pickup usually goes in the bridge. not always the best pickup. i think this is because (at least in my case) u use the bridge pickup for more high gain stuff to get the real heavy crunch.

Ok, But I dont get why that is though, owell.. So I should put the rails in the bridge then?

you can put them wherever, just i think most people do it this way. i think you might want to do some more research into the pickups before you buy. if you dont know enogh, you might be dissapointed or find out you should have bought different pickups.

also, the hot rails are a really high ooutput pickup, mainly used for like metal and hard rock. if you play mostly clapton, something more vintage might be better. you can get a pickup thats vintage sounding but is still good for distortion.

look at this page, you can read about all the pickups.

Thats why I wanted the rails, For the harder stuff I play.. And the laces are for blues type stuff..

The Lace sensors totally kick ass. You might check out the red/silver/blue set, set with the red in the bridge, silver in the middle, and blue in the neck. Totally killer set.

BTW, welcome to the forum

Is that a good combo for my styles? I was told Clapton uses 3 gold laces..
Thanks for the welcome.. I'm from scioto county ohio. You know where it is?

Any other suggestions?

The hotter pickup goes in the bridge because the strings vibrate less at the bridge than they do closer to the neck. As a result, you want that pickup to be wound slightly hotter so that it will match up well with the others. Gold Lace Sensors are nice, so are the Lace Hot Golds, the Lace Holy Grails, the Bill Lawrence 280s, and the entire line of Kinman pickups. I think you'd be happy with any of those, and all of them are designed to be noiseless. They are all designated as bridge, middle, or neck, so whatever you buy, make sure you order the correct models.
