I bought these pickups this past Winter from Vintage Vibe Guitars. They were hand-wound by Peter Bitloft and ran me a little over $100 for both of them.
I've played a bunch of P-90's over the years and these are by far the nicest ones. Nice and snappy but not too thin or nasal. They're a little hotter than most P-90's, but not so much that they don't retain the vintage sound.
The covers are black and they're a matched set. I had them in a Les Paul Custom. I loved the sound but for the places I'm playing and the music I'm doing I really need humbuckers. I've considered hanging onto them but the last thing I need is more gear in the stockpile.
I'll do $90 US for the pair shipped to the U.S. via USPS. I accept PayPal, checks and well-hidden cash in envelopes.I will not ship to a foreign country. Don't ask...I won't do it...and if you refuse to believe me and ask anyway I'll respond with a linked image of the biggest **** you've ever seen.
Email me pics. Thnx.
How do they mount? P-90 style or mounting rings?

how would these compare tonally with phat cats?
What magnets were used in these P-90's, Alnico II, V or Ceramic 8?

I think they may be a little higher output than the Phat Cats. I think they're probably a little more articulate as well, although my experience with Phat Cats was all of about a half hour of playing with them on a guitar that wasn't mine.
However with Vintage Vibe being a small shop and the pickups being hand-wound they're really more on par with what the Duncan Custom Shop is like rather than the mass-production.
I'm not saying that mass-produced Duncans are bad pickups. I'm just saying that the Vintage Vibes are probably more effectively compared to Duncans hand-wounds.
I have no affiliation with this seller or with the pickups buider, but I did just put a pair of these Vintage Vibe 'bucker-size P-90s in a Strat project. They are sensational pickups - the articulation across the entire fretboard is amazing. I was particularly impressed with the bass response - there was no drop-off in signal strength at all (a problem I've had with many humbuckers). You get great P-90 tones and bite from these pickups. I will probably use these again in orther projects.

Would you sell them individually? or would you consider a trade cash?
