all right, i've saved up enough to get either one of these two

i've done a search here and the XT seems to be awesome, but i can't seem to find which of the two versions would suit be better

im mainly going to use it for home recording...

i realize the live version has the floorboard..so its easier to control the effects..

do i have to manually rotate the knobs on the red bean to switch effects?

is the xt really worth the extra 100 bucks? which version should i take?

I think the pod xt live would be best suited if you plan to gig later. Also with the pod xt live you don't need to buy extra pedals as there are some on it already.

They are the same thing, except the Live has the floorboard (which you'd have to purchase separately in order to use the handy functions) built in. Very much worth the extra $100 IMO, as the floorboard itself is closer to $200.

don't forget to consider the GT-8, which gives you much better control over the effects.
