onto a traditional non floyd one????? I've recently bought a 86 set neck hamer chapparal which is for me one of the best floyd equipped guitars out there so my fender strat special floyd rose is starting to collect dust. So i was thinking if it is possible and financially convenient to convert it to a traditional strat with a 2 point american std or vintage tremolo and a normal non locking nut. I know i can sell the old neck floyd rose tremolo and buy a normal neck from ebay and that would solve the nut problem but what about the floyd posts on the body and the relative conversion to a simple fender tremolo? Any ideas if such an operation would be financially convenient???
I really like the colour (CAR) of the guitar so selling it and buying a new traditional strat is kind of difficult.

I think it's do-able, but I'd just sellt he whole geetar and buy meself a brand spanking new one.. No idea of the cost, though..

That's a nice guitar. Is it floating or dive only?

Dive only..........i prefer them over the floating ones,......much easier to setup and i think they have better tone.

I'd sell and replace. Too much work involved and the results can be pretty aesthetically unpleasing. Some guys can live with nasty looking conversion repairs that are plainly visible, Paul Gilbert and Steve Morse are two examples. But I don't like it.

If you are going to get rid of it... I am semi-looking for an axe like that.

Why not just put a normal nut on it and treat it like a normal bridge?

Wouldn't it work pretty much like one except on string changes?

No, i don't think so, on regular strat bridges the strings have a completly different way of passing through the bridge system that plays an important role on tone............
