Hey, everyone! This is my first post, but I've been reading this forum for a long time now.

I picked up a new Schecter Gryphon yesterday at Guitar Center. It's kinda like a mix between a Damien and a C-1 as far as I can tell, and I believe it's made exclusively for GC. After haggling for a while I was able to convince them to sell it to me for $365, which I think is a fantastic price for such a quality instrument. It has Duncan Designed humbuckers and Grover tuners even. Oh, and it has a coil-tap mechanism.

Anyway, I absolutely LOVE this guitar, but I do have one very minor gripe... The truss rod cover is only connected to the head by one screw on the top, which I believe is the case with most Diamond guitars. The bottom section of the cover (close to the nut) lifts up off the headstock. This seems like very sloppy construction when compared to the rest of the guitar, and it bugs me.

Has anyone else come across this problem? If so, what did you do about it?

One more thing... It was set up at the factory for 10s, but I prefer 9s (EB Super Slinkys). Will I need to have the truss rod adjusted to accomodate the lighter strings, or will it be quot;good enoughquot; if I just leave it alone. It seems to be fine so far. I had no problem setting the intonation with the 9s, but my tuner isn't the most accurate in the world.

Thanks a bunch!

I'd get it setup anyway, as with any new guitar. And I dunno about the truss rod cover, just take it off?

Drive another screw or two through the bottom. My Schecter does the same thing, but I use that gap to store a pick.
