I'm curious about the famed Leesona winder, Seymour supposedly bought from Gibson, which produced the actual PAF's. I suppose this is a question for Evan, but I thought I'd post it anyway, in case someone knows.
I'm assuming the new 50th Anniversary Seths were wound on it???
Regular Seths?
Antiquity humbuckers? How about Antiquity single coils? Yes/No?

I thought it was just the Seths and Ants, but maybe it's an option for any custom pickup???

I thought the same as well, but you do make a point about the custom pickup option.

I thought it was Seth, Ants and 59's custom orders of the vintage nature. I'm going to request my UGD pup be wound using this machine....hope it's possible.

I wanted to write a review of the 50th Anniversary Seths, and just wanted to confirm that they were wound on the same machine Gibson used to wind the original PAF's, but I don't want to say something like that until it's 100% confirmed by Evan, MJ, or Seymour.

Antiquitys
Seths
'59s
Pearly Gates
Alnico Pro Humbuckers
Vintage P-90s
Some custom shop pickups -- I'll have to check about the MF's. I honestly don't know at this point.

Thanks for this great information.

Just to clarify, when I said quot;Antiquitys, quot; I meant Antiquity humbuckers, P-90s, and (I think) mini-humbuckers. All the Antiquity single coils are wound in the custom shop. When you come to the factory for UGD, you'll see that the Leesona is on the main production floor, not in the custom shop/

here's a pic of the Leesona from my factory tour:
the thing that looks like a cam shaft is connected to the green box on the left

Leesonas were originally designed for the textile industry, BTW

You should post this over at the LP Forum. I was told I quot;need to do my research as those original machines may be owned by but aren't used to wind anythingquot;.

There seem to be quite a few over there who fancy themselves experts on Duncan products and your mfg processes.

That was my last visit. Too much self importance over there for my taste no matter how much knowledge may be hidden in the shadows.

I agree. They get hung up on trivial Sh*t amp; fancy themselves as experts. A lot of time spent in the quot;Mutual Admiration Societyquot; .

Cool...that means I have 6 pickups wound on it.

I've got at least 5 pups.

Yikes! I have 15.

I have only one but I'm damn proud of it

I do like my '59 I must say

How does the Leesona winder do a different job putting wire on a bobbin, than any other modern winder? What's the difference?

Mojo?

I was researching, and came across this great thread.
