Is there anything I should be concerned with in regards
to long term storage of stock pickups that have been removed from the guitar?

IE, should I not store the pair together in the same box, near
each other? I'm think having 2 magnetic pups together might,
over the years, cos degradation in the strength of the magnets?

While I don't see using the stock pups every again, I don't want
them to degrade as they gather dust in my closet.

All suggestions welcome.

When I went to the Duncan Clinic in Studio City Ca, Seymour himself addressed that issue when someone in the audience asked that question.

He basically said that you want to store them each in their own container, and store them so they lay parallel to each other, and not close enough that the magnetic fields effect the pickups next to it.

It's also not a good idea to store them near any other electromagnetic device like a transformer, speakers, fan etc. I've often wondered myself if having hundreds of pickups in their jewel boxes stacked in a display would have any effect on the gauss level of pickups???? Probably not enough to think about.

I replaced the stock PUPs in my '57 Strat with Tex mex PUPS. I store the original PUPS in the box that the new PUPS came in. They have a die cut hole for each PUP and are sitting in foam. I don't anticipate any problems with this method.

well, now I wonder if I've done any quot;damagequot; to my two 79 strat pups
that I replaced in 1980. They've both been sitting, along with an
older Gibson pup, in the plastic box my Seymours came in, for 25 years!

I cannot see ever using these pups again (but ya never know),
but I don't want to damage them in any way.
