You know when you strum/pick near the bridge you get a twangier sound, but when you strum near the neck you get a mellower sound.
Well, tell us what you do!
You have the option of multiple choice but you should only vote twice:
one, to respond to where you strum/pick for leads
AND
two, to respond to where you strum/pick for rhythms.
umm.. that's a subconcious thing withme.. but i guess rythm nearer to the bridge from the middle and leads somewhere in the middle
i'm exactly the same, i do my leads right smack on top of the middle pickup, rhythm slighty more bridgewards..

depends of the effect I´m trying to achieve...palm mutes are always near the bridge, but as soon as I´m playing a string I´m not muting the pick could contact anywhere between the 12th fret and directly on top of the saddle
I used to rest my hand on the bridge when I played, but once I got the Jackson I had to break myself of it because I'd always push the strings out of tune. It's really hit or miss where I pick now, but it's usually somewhere near the middle.
I honestly don't think about it that much or watch my hand for that matter. But when I do I'm generally in the middle.
My right hand takes care of my right nostril, never the left.
I never really thought about from a sound point of view I just picked. The other day I looked down and I was picking right about the 22 fret. It works for me.
I pick all over the guitar, from the bridge to the 22nd fret, depending on the sound I'm trying to achieve. I don't really think about it - it's more like how your mouth and tongue move to form vowel sounds... just part of the vocabulary.

Haha
Anyway, I move my hand all over the shop.. Depends on what I feel like, the guitar I'm playing, if I purposely want the guitar to sound a certain way..
im always directly above my strat neck pickup.
I tend to stay near whichever pickup I have selected.
i have 4 ways to pick/strum.
AHAHAHAHHAAHHA
2 for leads, 4 for rhythm
A little bit of everywhere actually.
I have no idea.
For most styles, rhythm is usually just south of where a Strat's middle single coil would be. Leads are usually between the neck and middle single coils.
When playing punk I usually play everything somewhere between the nut and saddles.
rhythm playing is always near the bridge. leads are usually closer to the neck, with the occasional shift to the middle area to pull off a screeching harmonic. biiiiIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINNNGGGG!!!!
i voted middle for each, but that is only an approximation as i move around to get different effects that fit what i'm trying to do ... i usually end up rest my hand on the bridge / tailpiece area which ends up with my fingers / pick in the area between the pups
lt;-- my avatar picture looks pretty typical to me

I pick all over the place. If you listen closely as you pick the same note from different positions, you can hear slight changes in the overtones (pinch-type harmonics)...and depending on mood/need/etc...I wind up consciously or subconsciously moving to where the pick attack produces the desired result. Damn, I had a clip at one point where I picked the same bent note on a quot;bquot; string at the 15th fret....and moved my picking hand within a span of about 5 inches so some guys over at Guitar.com could hear the difference in tone and dynamic.
Maybe I should re-record it??
Dave
I will move around as a way of putting expression an nuance into my playing.
