I just ordered the new EL34 based Traynor 50Blue. I sold my previous YCV80 2x12 because I just wanted a 1x12 and after much shopping around I remembered they were supposed to come out with an EL34 based amp so I ordered one last night.

The clincher is the inclusion of a master volume which the YCV80 had and I loved but the 20's and 40's don't. Also comes stock with a Vintage 30, effects loop, footswitchable gain boost, auto-biasing which is nice 'cos I'll probably be swapping out the tubes right away. The YCV80 was extremely quiet and that is a plus.

I think the whole Traynor line is one of the best values out there for quality, features and price. Looks like my Wolfgang on ebay may come pretty close to paying for this thing!

I have jammed with Brisk a few times over at his place and he has a 40W Traynor. I am usually a big Marshall player but, I am gassing for a Traynor really bad.

Damn fine choice my friend. How much did it cost you? Where from?

Thanks! The only place that came up from a google search was in Florida. $639 free shipping, free cover. A rep called today and said they will start being shipped out in about another week.

The place I got my YCV80 from - acoustic axis don't seem to want my business that bad - no returned calls, etc. so I went with this outfit and I was impressed with the call I got from the rep today - seemed excited about doing business with me.

Let me know how that thing sounds. I've been eyeing one myself. Not that I need it or I'd buy one right now, but it's tempting. My legacy and crate combo is really all I need.

Congratulations. I've said it before, but I've heard rave reviews about new Traynor stuff from guys who gig and can really play. I hope that you're happy with yours.

good luck with the traynor , they are awesome amps. i would have ordered a ycv 40 instead of the vox ad50vt if i could have afforded it.

I believe my YCV40 sounds better than many amps with $1000 price tag. I bought it new $420 when it just came out. After new NOS tubes and speaker, it became my favorite amp. I've used Greenback but recently installed Celestian Vintage Neodymium, which gives more clear and brighter high. Recently I took it for jammin and the drummer was also pretty impressed. It sounds great at lower volume. My favoriate setup is tele with APS2 and JD Traynor. It can do fender clean bluesy overdrive without a pedal. Truely excellent amp. I think the current Traynor amp lines are hard to beat even for more money.

I haven't played the new 50W blue with EL34. So I look forward to hearing your review.
