A friend of mine has gotten shafted by a bunch of ***holes who sold him a silverface Bassman for 300 bucks that didn't work (it worked at the guy's house, but when played at a louder volume, the resistors over the power tube sockets fried) It's been 3 months since the guy said that he would get it fixed for free, and in the mean time he has borrowed one of the guy's amps and is using it as collateral. He plans on getting his money back.

Are there any amps similar to a Polytone that are available at Guitar Center? He just needs a loud, small, clean SS amp like a polytone, but they don't sell polytones at guitar center. Somebody help?

i've seen roland jazz chorus amps at GC from time to time, those may fit your description.

Jazz Chorus amps are cool, as are older (black amp; silver cosmetics) Peavey Bandits. The Peavey comes with one 12quot; speaker and a decent Transtube drive channel.

No, nothing is really like a Polytone: the only solid state amp that actually sounds good!

problem solved

I have a 400 watt galien krueger bass head that has sounded pretty good when i ran my guitar through it-loads of headroom, with contour switch on it could almost sound like an acoustic, and it rolls off the highs for jazz with enough power to be loud. I'm just going to recommend him a reverb pedal so he could use this amp for guitar so he doesn't have to hassle.
