My Gamp;L Legacy 2HB came in last Thursday. The pics aren't the best....turns out I know very little about the girlfriend's digital camera. Anyways, the body is alder and the neck/fretboard are maple. Up till now I've only liked the standard mahogany body/maple cap with rosewood fretboard. It's turning out I like the alder set up as well.
GREAT guitar as is the Asat Deluxe. Extremely playable and stellar workmanship. Had a phase switch replace the splitting toggle, and had the tech drop in two push pull pots for coil splitting. Also went from three to two knobs as the volume always gets in my way on a Strat.
Here's some pics of both my Gamp;L's.

Loooking Gooooddddd!
Congratulations! You can never have too many Gamp;L's. Gamp;L, is building an Asat Z-3 semihollow for me. I can't wait until it's done.
Sprinter
did you buy the ASAT off of Harmony Central from a dude here in the States?
Nice combination of colors/guard/neck. How's the JB/59 in it. I actually think those are good pickups for that guitar, although I'm sure you'll decide which direction to go, if not.
I like my Gamp;L Legacy Deluxe, but I admit I'm having problems with the frets not being leveled enough. I need to take it to a good tech and have a fret dress and bone nut installed.

Nope. I got the Asat Deluxe off a guy from gravitystrings.com. He had the guitar sitting in his shop and couldn't get rid of it, so I got a GREAT price on it new.

Swweeet gear you got there. Have any clips? I'd love to hear some of it in action.

That's why I PM'd you, bro. We had rehearsal tonite and I got to run the Legacy thru the Knucklehead I just picked up. I definitely like the JB running in the bridge with the alder body. I've come to dislike the JB thru mahogany, but I'm digging it right now. Good call (as always).
Oddly enough the frets are perfect on this Legacy. The shop I ordered it from set it up with TNT's and it's perfect out of the gate with no buzz and low action.
Now all I need is the Shiva.

Hopefully I will in a bit. We're looking to record two more songs and that'll be with the new gear. All my current clips are with the Soldano and Dean USA Hardtail.
I judge a pickup by how it sounds in a particular guitar/wood. The JB seems to work best in alder or ash, since high mids are a good thing in those woods.
I like hollower mid pickups in mahogany, since that wood supplies all the mids you need. Some people don't care for 59N's in their guitars, but I like it.
With my basswood/maple veneer Legacy Deluxe, I actually think the Gibson 498T sounds the best......that was a surprising discovery, since most people yank them right out of a stock Les Paul. It was a shock to find out the 498T beat out other Duncans in that guitar.....mostly because it gave the guitar the right character. Maybe I should give Theodie something to do besides bug Hamerplyr, by sending my neck for a fret dress. LOL

Gotcha.... There was one I almost bought off a dude on HC and I swear it was identical to yours down to the background of the pictures!!! Killer axe though bro!!!
That looks pretty cool. I had a SSS trem Legacy earlier this year but I didn't get along with it very well. That one looks like one I could like though!
Niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice!!!
The guitars are sweet and the photography is fine!
Gamp;L makes a great guitar, don't they?

Great guitar at a great price. $1175 for that guitar new before the custom wiring and pickguard is not a bad deal at all!
I love the birdseye! Birdseye maple its my favorite neck wood for looks... a good piece of birdseye is VERY impressive!!
Oooh.
Nice guitar!! Congrats! And yes, I agree that the birdseye is gorgeous.

Part of me still wishes I had gotten the birdseye maple neck with the satin finish on the Legacy. Instead I opted for the standard maple neck with the gun oil tint gloss finish as I was going to a more classic vibe. But damn, the birdseye would've been sweet, particularily considering how good the back of the Asat's neck looks with the birdseye.
that is one of the sickest ASAT's i've ever seen man...i freakin love that thang!

I picked up my custom ordered L-2000 for $840 less than 10 years ago. I don't know how much a MIA Jazz Bass was running back then, but for my money, I'd take the L-2000 any day of the week.
