or something like that.

Ok, currently I have a CC/PGn in my ESP Horizon (alder/maple neck-thru, string-thru body) which I wanted to use for clean/jazz stuff.

Now, I'd like to use this guitar for heavy stuff and shred-practice.

I have a spare Custom and an invader I'd like to try in this one (obviously for bridge position), now I'd like to know which pups go well with these (especially for sweeppicking)?
I have the Custom/jazz combo in my Jackson RR1, and I do like the Jazz but I'd like something more articulate. I played a Dean with a Dimarzio Super Distortion in it (both bridge and neck position) and I have to admit I was impressed!
Is there a duncan that is quite like the SD?
I have a spare SH6, would it be bad putting it in the neck? Could this be a solution? I have to say I didn't like it in bridge-position, too trebly but could it be warmer in neckposition?
Other options (maybe just try the SD?)? But not too bright please (full shred is too bright I think)

Thanks,
Bjorn

I don't think neck pickups get much more articulate than the Jazz. A Super Distortion certainly won't be. Maybe you mean something other than sweetness and clarity when you say quot;articulatequot;?

If you want clarity and smoothness from your neck pickup, DO NOT put a pickup in the neck position that is designed for the bridge position, especially not a high output bridge pu. It will be muddy and far too loud.

Maybe try an Alnico 2 Pro or a Seth Lover.

some more ideas? Anybody?

I think the combo you have now can handle the styles you described. If anything, I would just put the Custom at the bridge and call it a day.

What kind of sound do you want out of your neck pickup?
