Has anyone ever played a swamp ash Les Paul? I know they make them, or at least did for a limited time...

Speaking of which... what would it sound like if you made an LP with a mahogany back and a swamp ash carved top/vice versa? Anyone? Anyone with a remote idea? I'd be surprised if it's been done, but Warmoth got me thinking of different wood combinations.

I've seen one By Gibson. They Do Exist. I didn't play it tho.

I believe the Voodoo series les paul is swamp ash. Couldn't tell you what it sounded like though, but i know they still make them

I bought a swamp ash LP Studio a year ago and I absolutely LOVE it. It's the first Les Paul I've ever ownd so I really can't compare it with your typical LP's (mahogany body/maple top). When I bought it I had every intention of buying a Studio but for some reason every one I tried just did'nt get it for me. They were well made and played good but something was missing that I could'nt put my finger on. I just happenend to glance over and saw the swamp ash one so I thought, why not. For some reason the guitar just spoke to me and I don't know why and within 15 minutes I knew I was going to buy it. My only complaint with the stock pickups was with the neck pickup which I thought was rather dark. I put a 500K pot in place of the stock 300K volume pot and it worked wonders thru my Peavey Classic 30. I recentley bought a Fender Deluxe Reverb Reissue and the stock pickups were a bit to strong for the amp. Broke it up a bit too soon for my liking. I have since installed a set of Dimarzio Virtual PAF's which are much lower in output but they are a perfect match for the Fender. Of all the guitars I own the Swamp ash LP is by far my favorite because the tone is just so balanced. Has just the right amount of bass, mid and treble response. I also find it to be very comfortable to play. No regrets with purchasing it.
