I was just wondering what everyones opinion are on hamer guitars. They seem to be pretty affordable for what they offer and also come stock with duncans. I am thinking about a future axe to purchase and I am seriously considering a Hamer studio. Any comments?
imho...there is not a finer looking, feeling, playing instrument being made right now!
their craftsmanship is second to none...and i find the way they do business to be very refreshing!
the studio is a great guitar and i can't imagine anyone not being extremely pleased with one...a monaco elite is on my list of guitars that i will DEFINITELY own one of these days.
new...they are pricey...not that they aren't worth every penny when compared to ANY other guitar in their same price range...but you can get one used for a very good price!!!
pm puckboy99...he has recently purchased a studio in the past month or so!
You'll find a lot of Hamer enthusiasts on this forum, I know my old guitar teacher bought a studio, then the next week he bought another one, and after that he ended up selling a few of his other axes so he could buy more hamers.
A studio's on my list of quot;future purchases to be madequot;. They look, sound, and play great.
The USA Hamers are among the best guitars out there. I've had a few, and still have 3. I have plans to get some more when the opportunity presents itself. If you don't mind buying used, you can definitely save some money and get a world-class axe for a very reasonable price. The different models range from the utilitarian work horse (Special, Studio/Monaco Mahogany, etc) to the unreal pieces of art (Artist Ultimate, 30th Anniversary, etc.) Check out the gallery from the custom shop on the to see what they can do when they put their minds to it.
Simply put, they're very solid guitars. They're built well with good wood, good electronics and they feel like a good instrument should.
If you go the used route, I'd suggest one made after the mid 90's, when they changed to neck to a little flatter radius, and a profile more similar to older LPs.
Dude....they SUCK!!!
Get a Gibson!!!!!!
I had an import Hamer, an Echotone and let me tell you, that thing beat out every guitar in the same price range that I have ever played. I was a complete fool and traded it for something that I ended up selling anyway, I don't know what I was thinking. I'm a complete moron. I've got to get another one. But my point is, don't shy away from Hamer imports either, they're very good...though obviously not the quality of the american built ones, but high quality.
the guy at my local GC brought be a used one outta the back, blue aquaburst... only 275, i cant believe i let that deal go... the thing was beautiful! and it played even better
I'm about to buy a Hamer Korina Artist (2 P90's) in natural. They are beautiful guitars.

This is the only custom order I made in 30 years of guitar playing :I sold all the rest of my non Hamers to get it.
Now I own 10 Hamers and all of them keepers.
The Hamer Diablo USA I tried was so badass, I sometimes wish I would have bought it now. They are fine guitars.
Do I really need to say anything?
Seriously, some of the imports are turds, just like with any other manufacturer's imports. The USA-made stuff is great 99% of the time. If it were me, I would hang out on Ebay and look for used USA pieces until I found one that I liked.
On second thought, that's not what I would do. If I were you, I would actually hang out on Ebay and check out the used Hamers so that I could warn others about how horrible they are. I would then PM HamerPlyr (capital H, capital P) so that he would know which guitars to avoid. Thanks.
(Don't be alarmed if you see that I've purchased one of those awful guitars. I'm just trying to protect the uninformed from being swindled.)
