I have a Yahama Ty Tabor Drop 6 Baritone that the high b string is catching on the underside edge of the vintage rail neck pickup.

This also happens on my lil' screamin demon neck pickup in one of my strats. Is there a remedy for this?

Looking possible for a high output single sized neck and middle pickups for my baritone that are not too muddy. Also a new bridge pickup to replace JB.

Thinking about a dimarzio drop sonic for bridge?

Guitar is Basswood with a maple cap. Thanks,

Steve

The single-coil sized humbuckers have recently gone through a makeover, the new models no longer have that quot;edgequot; on em that your strings get caught underneath. They've also got metal inserts for the height-adjust screws, so they wont strip as easily as the older models.

I HATED the dropsonic. Far too mushy and muddy for me. It all depends what you're goin for I guess.

I'd suggest checkin out the cool rails for your neck and middle positions. Those are pretty *****in little pickups.

What don't you like about the JB? If you want a pickup with more balls and none of that sometimes-nasal midrange spike, the duncan custom would be a good one to check out. If you like the overall tonality of the pickup, but want somthing with the mid spike shifted a bit lower, the Dimarzio FRED is a good choice.

What kind of music do you play/what kind of tones are you going for?

I second the custom for downtuning. It's nice, tight and chunky.. but not too hot.

A trick for stopping the string snagging is to get a bit of tape, and stick it to the edge of the pickup and the body so it can't snag underneath anymore. Steve Vai does it -
Of if you're pimptastic you could get a custom metal sheath to put over the edge, but tape works well too hahaha.
