I am thinking about buying one with the 3 brass saddles and then buying a set of the compensated saddles for it. has anyone here used these bridges i have read a few things about bridges not being made of good metal and not having as much sustain and output. so i was wondering if these were any good since they are so much cheaper than some of the other ones i looked at.

Though reluctant to dis Stewmac, I think buying their 3-saddle bridge, throwing away the saddles, and replacing them with the compensated saddles is just dumb. I went so far as to email them about it, and they confirmed that's what you have to do. Why they don't offer a compensated bridge assembly is beyond me.

There are alternatives - look on eBay. One is the Wilkinson compensated bridge, the other is a modified Fender bridge by a guy know as quot;giantguitarsquot;. We compared/contrasted these two worthy contenders yesterday.

FWIW, I ended up with the giantguitars bridge for my Nashville Tele.

Before I had a chance to look at the giant bridge I went ahead and bidded on this one. If I get outbid I will probably go for the giant or just sell this one and go for the giant anyway.

All these Tele bridge questions lately? Anyway...if you want THE BEST get a Callaham and call it quits if money if a bit tighter that all that get a Fender bridge from Ebay and replace the saddles with compensated Brass saddles from Stew-Mac, it's a lot less than the Callaham and almost as good!

I'm currently getting the parts together to assemble a tele clone. I got the Fender bridge plate from Musicians Friend for $7.99, and the saddles from stew- mac. It doesn't get much cheaper than that if price is an issue.

I looked at the callaham bridges i like them as well but i noticed they make 2 different bridges one is the ashtray style and the other is the american tele style. the problem is i want the ashtray style bridge but don't know about the string spacing. from what i have read the bridges have different spacings. Will i run into any problems with this?
