$1400 seems a little high for a simple bolt-on like that, only the emg's stand out in the specs. is it worth the money compared to high end ibanez or fender? that's the price of a fender american vintage jazzmaster.

As someone who just sold an Ernie Ball I gotta say that they feel like a complete work of art. The build quality is exceptional!!!

You'll laught at what Fender will make for $1400 after you play an EB. Well worth the money.

VERY well made guitars.

I've never played that particular guitar, but I know Musicman guitars are exceptional value and quality, so I doubt this one is differant.

One recommendation - Look for a used if you can. There are fantastic deals out there to be had. I bought my Axis about a year ago for $500. I've seen a couple go for a hundred or two more than that in the past couple of weeks. This is the axis, not the Luke, but if you are patient you should be able to get one for far less than $1400.

these are amazing- very overlooked. i've played a few steve morses too, which were well worth the money. even a lower end (silhouette/silo special) isn't really 'lower end' and fun to mod.

I've played the Luke and it is a fantastic guitar to play. Beautiful neck and a great sound.

EBMM is one brand I do want to get at some stage, just a little hard to get down in New Zealand.

You haven't played one yet, have you?

I own an Axis and a Silhouette Special, for the price range, the build quality and attention to detail SMOKES everything else out there. Killer tones, killer playability, good looks, they've got it all.

Having a bolt-on neck does not signify lesser build quality. So many people don't get this. Music Man guitars are interesting breeds...

I love a good strat as much as the next guy but for $1400 I'd rather get a Custom-made Silhouette than another American Deluxe Strat that's off the shelf.

Play one. You'll see what I mean.

thanks to everyone for the info!
I have played one JP sig model at my local g. center. I liked the neck and neck joint better than my ibanez RG prestige. beefier. I didn't like the sound though, but that may be due to the basswood. I don't like the tone of basswood, especially clean tone.
the luke is too rare to try one. Silo, maybe. a brand new silo special is about 1100, about the price of a strat deluxe. I have no problem with a pickguard mount and passive pups. I will look into a used silo special on the evil bay.
