Not sure if this topic has been done before but which guitar string brand do you guys think is better? Ernie Ball or GHS?

I've always seemed to have trouble with Ernie Ball.. either they break or seem to go dead early. I've never tried GHS, so I can't really comment on those.

I'm a D'Addario man myself.

I've been using GHS for a few years now, and I like em. I first used the regular boomers, but now I use both kinds of the Zakk Wylde signature... I use the ZW10-60's on my LP and the 11-70's on my strat (which is normally in some strange low tuning). I've tried the GHS acoustics before, and the GHS bass strings too, both being about average, but the electric strings are very good in my opinion.

To be quite honest, I think that they're pretty much the same thing. Nickel plated stainless steel, right? I played GHS Boomers 9-42 forever, but recently switched to the EB's in the same gauge. I can't really tell any differences. I say buy whichever's cheaper!

If choosing between those 2 I would choose GHS, But I personally prefer Fender Super Bullets

I prefer EB on bright guitars and GHS on darker guitars, or for down tuning.

Actually, those are my two least favorite string brands. Ernie Balls sound and feel nice when they're new, but they go dead faster than any other string brand I've tried. GHS strings last longer, but they felt horrible. I tried the pure nickel GHS strings, since I use pure nickel strings on all my guitars. They felt much different that any other pure nickel string I've tried, and not in a good way. It was like playing on sandpaper, no smoothness at all. The whole point of using pure nickel strings is for the warmer tone and softer, smoother feel, neither of which I got from GHS pure nickel strings.

IMO, GHS strings die too fast and don't really have the tone I like. EB has been my main string for 2 or 3 string changes so far, which lasted about 4 months each. However, I went to the local music store and they were out of the EB gauge I use so I had to buy a D'Addario set. I have yet to wait until the Dean Markley set dies (which I also bought only because the store had no EBs in my gauge) before I can try the D'Addario, which the guy at the store said are basically the same thing as EB. But overall I'm an EB fan so far.

I used to be drifting away from balls, but yesterday I slaped on a set of beefy slinky's (11-54) and they have reaffirmed my faith.
