If you were a famous musician and guitar company's started asking you to get your own signature/custom guitar, which brand would you like to get asked by? How would it look like? Are you already a famous musician with your own signature/custom guitar!?
Oh I'm already (in)famous!
As one of the crappiest players on the planet
I'd have a Gibson Les Paul Standard as my Sig Guitar. Kind of a hybridPlain maple top..light burst, wine red, black..one piece back, mahog neck
historic Creme pickguard, pup rings, plates/switch knobs, binding
amber top hats
60's style neck, real MOP traps.. and modern size frets
CTS pots, bumblebees, etc
Lightweight tailpiece and ABR 1
*Basically a R8 with a 60's neck*
and
57 classic plus in the bridge, 57 classic in the neck (assumin had to have stock Gibbos...)
I'd also like a mini humbucker version.
Where do I sign?
Hmm, my first choice would be Fender.
neck:
strat headstock
birdseye maple
boat contour
10quot;-16quot; compound radius
birdseye maple fretboard
satin finish on the entire neck
dunlop 6105 frets
body:
strat shape
alder or ash
two humbuckers (CC/Jazz or JB/Jazz)
1 volume, 1 tone, 3-way LP style switch
Floyd Rose (drop pitch only)
chrome hardware
too many finishes to pick through
Hmm, my homemade is almost there.

First choice, Peavey.
Second choice, Ibanez.
Third choice, Washburn.
THe peavey would be based on the Limited, but PLAIN maple top, in black or natural(lightly stained), with black pickuard, 2 active humbucking pickups(i'd work with them on a specific design), and a maple board and natural headstock.
Ibanez would be a 7 string with the ZR trem sting with very heavey guage strings. The trem would be set unto a large metal block bolted into the body.
'new 7' bridge PU, Blaze Bridge in the neck.
Washburn would be based on the flattop Idol, ALL maple, maple board, black inlays like the USA model maple headstock with black inlays, black body, korean actives.
if i was famous, i'd probably go with some unknown luthier. make him/her famous too. besides, 'custom' guitars by gibson or fender are not really 'custom'- you can't tamper with the headstock shape, or body shape, or where they put the name on the guitars. it is like you get to pick within a fine set of parameters- it isn't 'anything goes'.

I like this idea as well. Trey Anastasio did it for Paul Languedoc (although Paul doesn't make them available to the public).
I'd like a few Historic LP's with neck-through construction for better high-fret access. One would be a 3-pu Custom with an underwound Phat Cat (6.5 to 7.0k) in the middle -- and with a gold Floyd Rose. There! I said it!
I would also dig a semi-hollow Strat, the f-hole on the upper (bass) side, with an SSH configuration. That's right, the neck pickup would be the humbucker, probably a Seth Lover neck and maybe with about 100 turns taken off each coil, or 200 off the slug only.
That's crazy that this post came up today. for a while I have been wanting to have an electric made. I already have a killer handmade acoustic. But I have been brewing ideas for a cutom Tele(ish) guitar.
The guitar would be vaguely like this.
1. mahogany body with a nice maple top.
2. Neck through construction.
3. Transparent finish.
4. TV Jones FilterTron Classics or SD P90s
4. maybe a Bigsby.
I posted this idea a while back and until today when I was looking into Brad Paisley's custom made guitars from Crook Guitars I had never seen a Tele with FilterTrons, but Crook has done it. This is not my idea of my perfect custom Tele, but you get to see what FTs look like on a Tele.
hey if i'm famous...i want my own series baby!!! and i'd have to have Hamer make mine!25 1/2 inch scale...with the Hamer neck radius...22 (21 on the vintage quot;Hossquot;) medium jumbo frets...maple/maple with sperzel locking tuners...SD pups of course
behold...the quot;Hossquot; series....
THE SEMI-HOSSTHE V-HOSSTHE ROCKA-HOSSAm I famous? I think of myself as a
quot;Legend in my own room,
a rumour in my own timequot;.
Anyways my signature axe would be a McNaught vintage double cut with 3 P-90s and a diamond quilt top in honeyburst.
First Act, ghost built by Wayne Charvel.
BC Rich all the way. Probably a Mockingbird or a BICH or both. Don't know what customization I would. The stock Supreme ones i have are perfect.
EDIT:
OK now that I've thought about it. I would a sig series Bich and Mockingbird. 25.5quot; scale. Mohagany neck through with mahogany sides. Flamed maple top. Walnut stringers. Natural finish. Duncan Distortion bridge, Jazz, neck. Grover Imperial tuners. Pearl cloud inlays. Full active electronics package (even though I'd probably disonnect it anyway).
as soon as my diamond plate pickguard arrives from sharp concepts ill have built it, thats the last part im waiting for before its completed
ive never seen another guitar in the world like it, its truly unique
im planning on doing a build report once its done, and recording some soundclips of what it sounds like - my way of giving something back to the forum that helped me build it
I will only say:I've already got a custom guitar.
alder strat body
black base coat
green flames
silver engraved pickguard
lindy fralen real 54's
silver pickup covers
tele style knobes
huge maple neck
dark rosewood fretboard
super-jumbo frets
vintage safe-T post tuners
I need to get some pic's up of it.

I'de like to be asked by Fender or Charvel
Maple neck/fretboard, 24 frets, strat headstock
blocked Kahler Spyder Tremelo bridge w/ EVH D-Tuna
basswood body
H/S/S Config with true single coils and either a DiMarzio Super Dist. in the bridge spot
sounds somewhat similar to something fender made in the late 80's...

It would have to be a Tele, have entirely too many pickups, probably a piezo bridge, and an extraordinarily fiddly switching system.
