I got the Agile 2800 and REALLY like it a LOT!
lt;-----
I also have a clapton sig strat and am happy with it as well
The thing is I was wondering is does anyone have some suggestions for pickups for this guy?
I like Slash/Joe Perry style playing, I dig pretty much ALL classic rock, and blues in the Albert King style.
I play a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe but that may change, and I am probably getting a POD XTL as well.
So after all that, any good pickup suggestions? These aren't quot;badquot; but this is a Korean made guitar and I am sure that a good pair of Duncans would be quot;betterquot; quality and sound wise.
THANKS!!
Slash uses a set of Alnico II Pro Humbuckers, so I think that's one choice for you. But I personally have never tried that combo.
I do like the Custom 5 in the bridge and 59 in the neck. That gets good tone for classic rock, and just about everything else. They're great clean and can rock with gain. A JB in the bridge is also great.
If you're going with an amp modeler, I'd go with an APH set, since you'll be getting plenty of gain from the processor. If you're sticking with the Fender amp, the APH/Custom Custom combo will sound great.

Also it might seem a bit strange, but regardless of your amp you might want to stick with a A2P combo. Nothing sounds quite as sweet as PAF style pups.
Perry's LP tone has always struck me as more of 59 type tone though. Ask The Guy Who Invented Fire, he can tell you what some good Perry tone components would be.
Luke
jb and 59
thanks guys
got my pod xtl today
it sounds SO SO good thru the hot rod deluxe!
i am going to do some pickup research...
man i just cant get over how good this thing really sounds man
I am also looking for the same tone - been recommended to either get the Alnico II Pro set or the Alnico II pro neck and custom custom for the bridge.
Is it just me or do all the samples on the site sound the same?
How are the stock PUPs in the Agile 2800? I'm thinking about one of them or the AL-3000 myself!
Man I'm glad to keep hearing all these great reviews of the Agile Les Pauls. I also ordered an Agile 2800. Should be here by this Saturday or sooner. I play metal and hard rock so I ordered a set of quot;Motherbuckersquot; to test out. I'm hoping they work well. If they seem too hot I'm going to grab a Super Distort and a PAF.
Can you tell me anything about the Agile 2800? I'd like to hear some more reviews of it. I'm starting to get that giddy feeling I used to get when I was a kid a few nights before Christmas. I keep having this feeling I'm about to get my hands on something special.
NotTheGuy - they are not BAD but i just have to believe that a set of good old seymour duncans would have to be better than a set of pickups that come stock on this guitar. i really do like the pickups on here better than the ones on the 20 epiphones i played.
Third Eye Visions - hmmm sometimes getting that excited isn't like the best thing because well the more excited i get sometimes it is anit-climatic
but i do really like it, i really wanted a les paul, and i really honestly can say i feel that this is better than prob 98% of the epi's i played and really not much different to me that a studio, i am sure the studio is better but i could buy 3 of these for 1 of those....
