i'm trying to setup my MIM strat, and having some issues. I have always taken my strat to a guy to get it set up. I don't have any problems with guitars with a fixed bridge (my LP) but I'm just NOT GETTING THE STRAT RIGHT. the trem is really causing me problems for some reason.

strat guys: if you were changing string guage, what order do you make your adjustments in?

Tighten all the screws,(except the bridge),and the nuts so that they are snug,check the nut,relief and neck alignment.Then set the action.If you are finding that the bridge plate isn't sitting parallel to the top of the body then loosen the screws at the front of the bridge.Start with the outer screws and then adjust the 4 inner screws.You'll also want to check the claw to make sure that it's adjusted right,with no springs binding and the face of the claw being as level to the body route as you can get it,extreme angles mean that it isn't set to the right tension.This will take some time so don't rush it.When all that is done recheck the tuning and intonate.
