i am in the process of upgrading my pedal board. for the moment i am going to upgrade my distortion set-up. i am currently running a boss ds-1 distortion, a boss md-2 mega distortion and a boss hm-3 hyper metal. (no not at the same time, just for diff types of distortion). i have heard people talking about the radial tone bone, in either classic or hot brittish. before i shell out over 200 bucks on one of these, i would like to get some opinions on em from forumites who use them. what kind of distortions can i expect to get from them? is the sound worth the price? is there distortion pedals in the same price range that will blow them away? are they versatile? lets hear what you got to say. also if someone can post some clips of either in the tips and clips room, it would be greatly appreciated.
What type of amp are you using?
What type/style of sound are you after?
Look into the Mosferatu by Hermida Audio. It's one of the most articulate, responsive, and amp-like pedals I've ever heard, much less played through. It lets the character of your guitar and amp shine through, killer pedal. You can check out some clips at Alfonso's website, from : localhost/favorite clip of the Mos is with it running into a Dr. Z Maz Sr. It shows just how transparent and articulate the pedal is.
You play guitar?
Yes yes yes, what Fret said!
I see an M2 in the near future for myself! It's 2 Mos' in one pedal!

See, I already convinced Brent, now it's your turn Josh .
Hey, I gots a question though. Since the M2 is basically 2 boxes in one, does it count as 2 pedals in the ultimate 20 I need fo the Wh**eBanger Deluxe?
inside joke...

first question.see sig
second, i play everything from sabbath to wylde style stuff and about every type sound in between. i just love playin. as far as giggin goes, i actually play more bluegrass and country than anything (try gettin a metal gig around here, its damn near impossible) about as hard as i get is alot of skynyrd and southern rock in bars as far as public playin goes, but me and a few buds are workin on an 80's metal band project, although we dont know how far we will get other than just something for fun. like i say, my pedal board is more for just the stuff i enjoy playin around the house. i am gonna check out the moferatu clips, i may end up getting one. but i am really interested in the hot brittish. what kinda sounds can i expect from it, anything close to the marshall 800 brown sound?

it still wont be as cool as the slut banger deluxe board. i have got to take that board out in public sometime to see the reactions. i got a feelin it will be classic.
hey fret, did you ever get your neck?
Righteous!
sabbath - Muff or Rat
wylde - Something on those amps should already do that....
80's metal band project - Tubescreamer
A Big Muff is a one trick pony, and probably not what you're after.
A Rat2 would be able to replace your DS-1 and MD-2. With the filter towards the right it gets quite Marshally (turn the gain up and it'll do the Zakk Wylde muddy Marshall tone), and towards the left it gets quite scooped. It'll also do fuzz tones quite well with the gain up high and the filter tweeked to where you like it.
A Tubescreamer will give you those compressed/slick sounding 80's lead tones....mix it in with some chorus and delay........
thanks daisy, i was thinkin of gettin one of the new quot;you dirty ratsquot; i have had a big muff, it was ok, but like you said, its a one trick pony(plus i hate anything that wont take a power supply) i have some extra cash im gonna be throwin around, so i figure im gonna buy some higher dollar pedals while i have the chance to do so. the quot;inside jokequot; is that a couple of us are makin boards with 20 or more pedals so we can try to get about any sound we desire. still lookin to hear something about thye tone bones....anybody?

Keeley got ahold of some chips the pre 2000 Rats came stock with, uses them as part of the upgrade he does.
I've never heard a YDR, so I can't comment on it.The most I ever made it to was about 10 pedals....considering my board was almost 2.5 feet long, 20 seems freakin huge.
chuck that hyper metal and get yourself a G2D morpheus this is one of ony 3 distortion pedals i've heard that i like...i need to get one to run through my marshall!! i tend to be picky and only like high gain right from a good tube amp but this sounds like it has potential. anyway there is a clip on the site.... from : localhost/www.g2d.co.nz/products/productdetail.php?ID=4

thanks x, like i say, im sellin off most of my boss stuff to upgrade to better pedals except for the dd-6, i think i may just keep it. about the only use i get from the hm-3 is a decent sabbath tone.

It's on the way to me now, should be here tomorrow. The thing is, he says it won't require any fretwork, that he wound up doing it all himself. We'll see how that goes. If that turns out to be true, and you still want the files I'll cut you a deal on 'em since I won't need them anyways. I'll get in touch mang.
