Well, I've decided hell with the Qp because it just doesn't have any qualities I like.So im going back to good ole EMG's, Now I have a few questions. This Is where I'd like to be on it.EMG-T set with a PA2, with the PA2 wired to the lead RT pickup.
I was also thinking about droping the tone pot (I never use it) for something else, I dont know, a guitar expander, or something like that. (Suggestions?)
I would like to have this thing be great for high-gain, then be able to kick all the boosts off and run it clean and traditional.
what program did you do that in?? I know theres the jackson one, but how do you get the teles? or better yet, a strat (the quot;Jacksonquot; one doesnt allow pickguards on a soloist body).
As for the tone pot thing, Why not make it a volume for the bridge pup and have the other volume knob for the neck or vice versa?
Here
If you're going high-gain, why not load it with Humbuckers?
Because You can't go back to traditional with humbuckers.
You can do high-gain with singles, it just takes more work.:P
from : localhost/is the site i made it on.
And thanks for the idea about the dual volumes, that'd work great, but I really wana get a little more exotic than that. My other axe is already like that.Just wana build this thing pretty crazy. The SPC looks great, it fattens up single coils to give a more humbucker'ish sound. Which would be a great swap for a tone pot, because it cuts highs a little too!

If you want high output single coil size, why not go with stacks or single coil size side-by-side humbuckers (like the Hot Rails or JB Jr. [the JB Jr. for Tele would be a Custom Shop model]) or just high output pickups (like the Quarter Pounders). Friends don't let friends use active pickups.
I'm generally someone who swears by one master volume, but actives give you a little more leeway. I think it would be cool to use the other pot as a quot;balancequot; control, or fader for when the 3-way was in the middle. It wouldn't be that hard to wire so the fader was bypassed in either neck or bridge position, then when in the middle, you'ld dial-in the balance of the two.
Could be kinda cool.

I'd go with a mid boost and a PA-2 with that tele set.
Yea!

Sorry, but I love actives, theres no way to convince me that a hotrails can do what an EMG could do.

Because I've heard them all hundreds of times and hate them all.
I dont mine some passives buckers, and some passive single coils, but this EMG-T set is more what im looking for.
Look at my other axes, can you see a trend in my taste? My platinum pro can even sound straty! I want good overdrive AND good cleans, I hate 1 trick ponies.
quot;I want the best...of...both worlds!quot;...good luck. Sounds like a kool idea. I never tried active pups, so I gotta have mo guitars...sigh.
Try actives some time, but dont try an EMG-81.
Try an 85 or an 89 some time.
The S and SA also sound nice.
I just think alot of people hear an 81 and think quot;ewww all actives are like that!quot;
Most people who dont like actives are probably trying to play clapton or skynyrd with em.
Or do you guys think I should just get a hot tele set from SD and say screw all the boosters? My main beef with the Qp is that its sensitivity sucks, you have to play the hell out of the guitar to get much going out of it, it has awful feel.
If I could get a little more bassy Qp that still had a healthy amount of twang I'd be happy. I've never been really much concerned about the hum, thats what a volume knob is for when you arent playing. :P

A bridge/neck pickup blender like Leo made on his first Telecasters would be awesome IMO. I have a pang to one day build a mahogany or limba tele with a JB/Jazz and 250k pots....
Just hook an SPC up to anything, and it'll kick ass
Anyone notice what I just said?
Do you think a hot would do it for me for alot less money?
Just get a 4 conductor with a push/pull.
because... The final price on all the EMG gear will end up around $270 after install. I can afford it, just seems like alot to put into an MIM.
if you decide to go the little JB route, I have a lil JB for a tele that I'd trade for the QP if you ever get interested, let me know!
I dont really wana get to far away from a true single. Otherwise i'd get a stack. I just dont like buckers in tele's lol...

Thinking about doing a high gain tele. How would this work out?
