I just got done playing my USA strat, then my PRS SE, and then my Les Paul Custom. I dig the strat for a lot of reasons, but can't stand the way the neck feels. It has a thinner profile, rounder radius, and longer scale than the other two and it keeps me from playing it much.
So......I dreamed up this strat idea that I'm thinking of having Warmoth make for me. It looks like a PRS Navarro-ized strat, with a Gibson feeling neck.
Alder hardtail
24.75 scale neck
12.5 straight radius
59 back profile
medium jumbo frets
Sperzels
Schaller strap locks
Hipshot hardtail bridge
Hot Rails / lil'59 / lil'59
Only thing not pictured would be some gold single coil pickup rings (found them at Stewmac.com)
So what do you think?
I don't like white guitars (too calm for me, as are black and wood topped guitars), but this one reminds me a lot of a Carvin. I always thought you were a hardcore LP guy, but if it makes ya happy ... do it!!

I am, more Gibson in general actually and mostly because of the necks. But I do like the looks and ergonomics of a strat, I just find the neck (fretboard radious and scale mostly) uncomfortable to play in comparison to the Gibsons as I'm just more used to them.
why not just go with the short scale 24.75 in mahogany with a mahogany strat body hum/hum and make it a les paul sounding and neck feeling, strat looking and body feeling guitar lol? that should be best of both worlds. although the short scale neck should thicken things up a bit on its own but i think i'd go all mahogany to make it something real different.

ahah a fellow white guitar person
That looks badass! Build it! I'll suggest an Earvana nut along with a staggered height Sperzel set.

I already have a buhnch of mahogany guitars with humbuckers, this way I can keep the strat look and use the Hot Rails/Alder combo that I really like. Hot Rails kick ass. Although I was considering Limba to add some warmth and snap, but I think I'll stick with alder.
ahhh i see, i see...then i say go for it in alder since you like the strat body and LP neck and scale, how can you go wrong? also take note that warmoth now does string through T-O-M bodies...not so much for this but i just found out today and am planning a project since they can do that now.
oh and hot rails do kick ass...but the tele hotrails is the real ass kicker over the strat one hehe!!

looks good! may i suggest the hipshot hardtail bridge. also, if you are game on the custom radius and back profile, usacg will be a better option since there's no upcharge for custom options except for intricate inlays.

Already planning on the hipshot, I had one on my last Warmoth project. As for USACG, I'd rather pay a little extra to Warmoth to ensure that I get a perfect fit to the Warmoth body, as well as a matched painted headstock.
I'd prefer it with a pickguard, I think.
The pickup rings look cool. I would go with the black or chrome. FWIW, it's your project. I can't wait to see the finished product.
That, imo, is one of the worst guitars i've seen. Theres nothing happening on it!

You have good taste....I like the way that looks. The block inlays don't really fit the strat mojo but I love them on LPCs so I can see why you would like them on the strat. But the short scale and white/gold setup I love the idea of.
How much is the final bill on this project guitar?

I haven't tallied it up yet, but I'm guessing around $1k whe it's all done. And I might go dots to keep it looking more stratty and save $75.
Looks nice, veyr 'clean', i do liek the look of a good white guitar, particually strats.
very nice looking... the only things i would do is forget the rings... and if your not going to go with the blocks then I'd go with no markers at all... just my $.02
I'd really go with apickguard.. dunno but a strat without a pickguard just looks plain.
