Hey guys. Long time no post. I'm toying with the idea of putting a Jazz pickup in the bridge of my Hamer Studio for use in high-gain, hard rock applications. Looking for something that has good trebble response and doesn't get too midrangy for high-gain, searing solo work. In reading the specs on Duncan's line of pickups it just dawned on me that this may work. I bet it's unusual so I'm curious if the experts here think it would work.

The Jazz is pretty bright and has a midrange scoop, but, so do the bridge positions of most Hamer Studio's I've played (including mine ). Personally, I would go with the 59, or perhaps something a bit hotter.

I know Jolly uses a Jazz in the bridge of 1 of his Les Pauls and he gets a great Hard Rock tone from his gear

The Jazz can most definitely rock. I have some soundclips in my signature. Heavy Riff 3 is all Jazz Model. Both solos in quot;Save My Soulquot; are the Jazz Model. Actually 85-90% of the solos I've ever recorded are the Jazz Model Bridge.

The Duncan Jazz is always a good choice.

You can try the Full shred model if you intend to go hi-gain. Or even the Dimebucker which has almost no mids. Alternatively any hot pickup should do the job as long as you cut the mids from the amplification EQ
