Hi guys, first time posting here. I wonder can anyone help me regarding a problem I have encountered when installing my new Little 59 pickup in my Strat. The problem goes like this...
I V carefully installed the pickup. It was a tight fit as the windings bulge in places. I got the pickup in but following adjustment to the correct height I've noticed what looks like the end of a very fine copper wire protruding from the tape wrap. The wire is at 90 degrees to the windings so I'm darn sure it's nothing to do with the windings. Besides it's actually a wire end and the pickup works and sounds fantastic. It actually looks like the protruding wire is embedded in the tape. Anyone any ideas? I'm thinking it's maybe some sort of shielding within the tape.
welcome to the forum!!
not sure, is this wire the size of hair? sounds like part of the coil but if the pup works you should be fine. i might not play with it much though
Thanks for your suggestion Jeremy and the welcome.
It is very fine, probably about the thickness of the winding wire. But it is really at 90 degrees to the windings and looks to be within the tape rather than from behind it from the windings.
I have noticed also that there looks like what appears to be a winding, though I'm sure it's not, actually around the rim of the tape. That's what made me think this was maybe some sort of shielding embedded in the tape. I've tried the email service on the site in an attempt to get some advice but to no avail. Sent three emails over a month and never received a reply!
What a pickup though! I couldn't believe my ears when I heard it. The SD samples don't do it justice.
