I was planning on just cutting the legs with the 90 degree left on the ears and slide them up and solder it on.Is this the simplest way ? I have a 40 watt iron ,will that get hot enough to solder pieces this size?
That is gonna put the screw holes quot;outquot; farther as well as make the pickup a tad quot;widerquot; over all...it might be easier to get a new baseplate or a different 59...
Thats kind of what I thought, but it seems I've read that some have done it that way but never mentioned the hole alignment.I swapped the base plate on the 59 neck I put in a while ago with an HB I had lying around.I just dont have any anything I can steal it from right now.I've had my eyes open for a good deal on 59trem for awhile but came across a used set for $60 so I grabbed it,but the bridge is reg spaced and those are usually long legs.
No need man. Get some new short legged HB base plates from Steven Kersting (Been there, ruined a good 59 baseplate!

That does sound like the best and neatest route, thanks
