I have discovered the sound I want my Stratocaster to scream. And thats Eric Johnson, beautiful. I want those soaring rythym licks and incredible solo work to just swell off my fretboard, but now I need the pickups.

Sigh but yet I'm still a metal head through and through, but I want my strat to nail EJ first.

So here is where you all come in, please help me, what pickups should go in my S/S/S American Series Fender Stratocaster.

the new EJ Strat was a set of custom wound Fenders but Eric plays mostly 50's Strats...some are stock and some are not...I would say that a set ofDuncan SSL-1's, or Surfers, or Fralin Vintage Hots, or Fender Fat 50 or Chubtone's would get you there, or as close as you could get with out the rest of Erics rig...just so you know...the pickups in the EJ Strat are Alnico III in the neck and middle and Alnico 5 in the bridge...

I say renounce metal ( )- and embrace a set of Antiquity Surfers. If you are concerned about Stratitis, go for a set of flat SSL-2s.
