God help me. What was I thinking? American Deluxe V neck with the S-1 switch, 2 color burst, maple neck, vintage greenish tinted plastic. Locking schaller tuners, schaller strap locks, hard shell case.

I actually enjoyed the S-1 Switching system. Very cool options there. The biggest problem is that I have to get on a plane in a while and won't be able to get it until I get home. Sucks.

At which point you will grab the digital camera, snap some pictures and upload them.

Sounds like a pretty cool score. I'm assuming you got it new, but you know what happens when I do that. You got any plans for the pups?

You can always use my excuse...quot;Honey, I heard voices!quot;. No, to be fair, my wife has finally figured out that guitars are RETIREMENT ACCOUNTS, provided I purchase the right ones. Congrats on the new baby. Need I buy cigars?

I've got two Alnico 2 Pros and a Twangbanger sitting around if I need them.

That should take care of it.

The S-1 switching system is pretty cool But I'm not sure if you can
randomly swap PuPs without losing some of the S-1 feature's? I'm pretty
sure atleast one of the Pups is RW/RP? My StepDaugther has a AmDeluxe
Tele w/t the S-1 system. I'm not a fan of stock Pup's, But no need to
replace the PuP's in her Tele.

congrats/

Sounds really nice the guitar you got. I really not a strat guy but I have the impression then in some years, I am gonna be tempted to get one. Until this year I was only
swearing by Les Pauls and now I am gasing for a Tele.
The Strat might not be too far.

Anyway, how works a S-1 switch and what is a RW/RP pup?
I've seen this in a rescent thread in the pickup lounge... didn't really understood.

I've seen this in a rescent thread in the pickup lounge... didn't really understood. It starts with a Tele...I was a devoted bucker man, I had a few Gibsons, my Trusty Yamaha, and an aluminum neck Kramer (with 2 buckers) then I got my first Tele, then I got a Strat, and another Strat and another strat and Im waiting on another Strat!

Fender GAS will kick your ass!

NTW...a RW/RP pickup is used in the middle, it is reverse wound reverse polarity, it canceles the um in the 2 and 4 positions...

I just bought the same model last week -- right down to the SB finish. I love it, and I'm not usually a Strat guy. The neck feels great, and it looks beautiful. I had it set up with .010's with the bridge flat to the body with 5 springs. I really like the warm balanced tone of the SCN pickups. It has one of the nicest sounding Strat bridge pickups that I've ever heard. The DC resistance reads 6.2K for the neck pup, 6.4K for the middle, and 10.88K for the bridge. At least a couple of the series selections (S1 down) sound very useful -- nice open tone in the B M w/cap position (#4?) and a cool humbuckerish vocal tone in the standard B M series position (#5?).

I actually got this American Deluxe Strat when I took back an American Ash Tele. That was also a really nice guitar, with really nice tone from the new quot;modern vintagequot; pickups. Unfortunately, the U-shaped neck was killing the thumb of my fretting hand, and it was clear that things weren't going to work out after 3 or 4 days of playing. I guess it's C and V necks only for me -- live and learn...

wait a sec Scott

Is that yo strat? I have the same one! I sold the pickguard w/ the SCN noiseless pickups to a forum bro, and threw a pearloid pickguard on with surfers, and telecaster style switching. VERY VERY nice axe, you won't be disappointed!

Mine's been played at quite a few gigs and jams and it has a little battle scar on the side, and to my surprise, the poly finish is VERY thin for a Fender. I like mine best with 5 springs on the trem, but floating. This way you can still rock the whammy, but the tuning will be much more stable.

yep that's it. I'm going to give the stock pups an honest evaluation before I go yanking them out just for grins. it's a beautiful guitar.

probably a good test bed for the new strat stacks

Does it have the Samarium Cobalt Noiseless pickups in it?

Yep, for the time being...

I've heard lots of good things about them! If they are black, and you end up not liking them, I'd prolly willing to buy them.

oh and Scott, those SCN's have a pretty sweet resale value so you can pretty easily turn them into one or two of the SD pickups of your choice.

I found them to be very smooth sounding and great clean, but they lacked a bit of the typical strat 'bite' that I like to hear, so I went for the noisy 60hZ hum Surfers and have been rocking out ever since.

the way i go thru guitars, i'll keep em in a drawer

hmmm scott and strat, eh? .... look for it in the trading post before christmas

only teasing you, bro ... enjoy and play in good health .. every stable needs a strat

cheers
t4d

Congrats on the new axe, man... I've got the same one - a deluxe HSS with a rosewood fretboard... its gotta be one of the sweetest axes in my aresenal... leave the SCN pups in for a while... they sound smoother the more your play it IMO, it really grows on you... they sound great for just about any style...
