anybody ever buy a guitar body and or neck . i was lookin to build my own les paul style with there les paul body and there les paul style neck, o BTW does anybody no if the headstock on teh warmoth les paul neck has the open book headstock

Their necks are great. Got a Strat neck that is going on 12 years old and stills plays great. Heavily used too. Not sure about the LP headstocks though.

I've gotten great help from Warmoth...good people and excellent products....tell them what wood you like, grain, etc, and they'll set you up. I've built tele's and strats from them, tho never done an LP. Good luck!

I have revised my options and would purchase another product from Warmoth, provided that I issued a HARD PO that clearly states what is to be procured and terms and conditions for return is Warmoth fails to supply and satisfy the desired goods.

PS: I still will not deal with Greg.

The major down fall in building a Gibson style guitar from Warmoth parts is
It will be the Fender style 25quot; 1/2 scale . Not the Gibson 24quot;3/4 scale . So
It my look like a Gibby (Maybe? Sound like a LP) But it will play like a Fender.
As far as the string tension goes. Not the worse thing ,But I'd figued I
should give you a heads up about that.

They make 24 3/4quot; scale necks now.

You can get them in 24 3/4quot; scale.

Warmoth is decent quality. For parts guitars I much more preffer USA custom guitars. Their stuff is TOP notch!

Actually, the major difference is that Gibson necks are set (glued in), and all Warmoth necks are bolt-on.

The Warmoth Les Paul headstock is similar, but no it is not the Gibson open book. However, there is a lot of wood between the tuning keys and the top of the head, you could cut it yourself. I just stacked a bunch of crap AOL CD's together and routed the end of mine off, ala Spector. They do have 24 3/4 necks now, too. That's what I have on my Tele.

I know this is about Les Pauls, but a few years ago i bought a swamp ash Telecaster body for like $150 from them, and its not even 1.75quot; thick like a real Fender body is. They say their licensed by Fender. I quickly sold it.

Did you play it first? I'm not sure I'd be so quick to get rid of it because of a thickness difference, if it sounds good it sounds good...

It's close to the open book headstock, but not perfect. I still have to finish the body of my project, but the neck looks fantastic. If it plays as good as it looks, it'll be the best neck I own. You can always look on their website, but if you like I can snap a few pics of the headstock when I get home tonight.

Browse their showcase - you can pick up some premade stuff at good prices. If you watch often and long enough, you'll even find really cool one-off type stuff. I picked up my neck that way.

I've had a couple of necks from them, and so far I have nothing to complain about. I especially like the compound radius (10-16) on their version of necks. I've not purchased a body from them, but would not hesitate to. They were so cool about donating the body and neck for Seymours project Tele, that they've earned my business.
