I really need some input on what pedals I should get. What I have now is a Boss tuner and an Ts9 reissue. I've thought about getting someVoodoo Labs pedals. But I've also thought about going with just Boss. So I guess my questions are: Are Boss pedals good? I've heard some people say that Boss distortion is a little artificial sounding. Second, is there a Boss equivilant to the tube screamer, or should I just keep the ts9. Is there a better Boss pedal than a Tube Screamer. I don't really want a mismatched pedal board and would prefer to go all the same company if possible with the exception being possibly the Tube Screamer. Will a Boss Tu2 pedal power a Ts9 with the daisy chain cables like it will other Boss pedals. Please let me know you honest opinion about Boss pedals, Voodoo Labs pedals, and any other thoughts you may have. Thanks.

Some people really like the boss pedals. As far as being artificial sounding, compared to what? Of course a 9v powered stomp box wont sound like a hot rodded tube amp on its own but that doesnt mean the tones arent good and useable. I know Satch and Zakk both have used the boss pedals I wouldnt call their tones artifical. Boss's closest equivalant to the TS-9 is probably the SD-1 Which is a good overdrive pedal IMO. I would compare and see which i liked better before ditching the ts-9. I prefer the sound of the ts-9 while it has less bottom end the mid hump seems to help me cut through. Overall I like the boss pedals they are rugged and reliable. As for the power questions sorry cant help their I run all mine off batteries

I have an MXR Compression pedal I use to boost the output level of my humbucker guitars without changing the volume manually on the amp while on stage.

A Boss Chorus?
An MXR Phase 90?
Digital Delay?

A wah-wah pedal?

happy pedal hunting~

Any particular reason you want to mainly just use one brand???

I like Boss pedals. I currently have a TU-2, GE-7, CS-3, amp; DS-1.

I know what you mean by sticking with one brand. A pedal board full of Boss pedals looks pretty cool, but don't limit yourself to only Boss pedals. There are some effects by Boss that are really good, and some made by other companies that sound better. Some Boss effects do sound 'artificial', but that depends on the pedal and the effect UR looking for.

Keep the TS9. I got a TS9DX to replace my DS-1. The DS-1 was shrill and noisy IMO. The TS9DX is more 'natural' sounding to me.

I like my CS-3, but I hear MXR makes a better compression pedal.

I 've tried the CH-1 Super chorus. Alot of people like/use this pedal but I didn't care for it. I returned it.

The GE-7 works great for me. There are other EQ pedals out there that are probably better, but since I don't use it that much, it suits me fine.

The TU-2 is a must have IMO. Yes the daisy chain will power your TS9. It works on my TS9DX.

Get a Wah pedal. Another must have.

I'm getting a BF-3 flanger pedal soon. GC was out stock, so I have one on order. I hope I like it... I have a Digitech turbo flange that I didn't like (good thing it was free!)

I've also read good things about MXR's EVH phase pedal. I'm thinking about getting that too.

I've tried EH's Double Muff. It wasn't the tone I thought it was gonna be so it went back.

I guess effect pedals are all subjective. Some are better than others, but thats up to you to decide. Its all about the tone UR after...

hope this helps.

Well, here's the million dollar question . . . what tone are you after? What Rig do you have now? That will greatly affect the choice of pedals, as some pedals are more single coil friendly, and others more humbucker friendly. Case in point, the output of my GandL is too Hot to use the TS9dx i have as a clean boost. So answer those two questions, that will help us get you well on your way . . . . Happy Hunting Man!

And yes, The Tu-2 tuner will most if not all 9v pedals, not just boss one's. All you need are those daisy chain power cables

i think pedal borads look way cooler with obscure pedals all different and wierd. the boss ones are a safe bet, but nothing really left field, getting wierd, unexplored stuff out of them isnt so easy.

No doubt about it. If you've got a TU 2, get the daisy chain too. Best $20 I've spent... you'll be glad you did.
