Well i was changing the string son my strat tonight, and i decided it was time to bring out the lemon oil so i did. Well on my rosewood fretboard i notice there was a fair bit of gunk there in the light at an angle so i used my finger nail to scrap near the frets. After half way through i noticed i etched marks in the fretboard itself!!!! it plays fine and feels new as hell, but its just upon close inspections the fret board especially near the frist 2 frets looks ugly... note to self be more gentle when your cleaning the taylor!
You can take a bit of 0000 steel wool, and gently work it out.
haha yeah i got the gunk too, ive scraped a bit off but never to much cause i get to lazy cause its on every damn fret

Get an old, well-used soft bristle toothbrush. You can use it to get in the nooks and crannies where the fretwire meets the neck to get all the gunk out, and it will also break up gunk on the fretboard if you lightly brush it. Dust it off with a cloth, then oil it up/wipe it down.
