what was gilmour using at live 8?
i read this in one place:

but do not know if it is true or not...

He USUSALLY uses EMG's (has/had his own signature)...I beleive they were stock actually!! That looks like a vintage strat (If you looked closely, it looked like a chuunk of wood had been takin out of the back for a floyd or something, and is now filled in). There was a discussion about this in the Fender Forum I beleive and alot of people said stock. (although they don't look aged a bit)

Whichever they were, they sounded amazing!

The black Strat guitar was the same guitar David used since the quot;Animalsquot; tour. He had put a Floyd Rose vibrato on it and then removed it. He was using Dimarzio pickups in it on The Wall tour, hard to say what is in it now.

That's the guitar Gilmour used during the wall period. It has been fitted in the past witha a Kahler tremolo which he had removed later cause it killed the tone of the guitar. Now the pickups should be stock but his guitar tech Phil Taylor said that he had used a Dimarzio on the bridge position of that guitar for the wall concerts.

Ok, I found out a bit more...there DEFINATLEY not the EMG's..so we can rule that out for sure. I have also heard Custom Made s. I have also heard Kinmans and Dimarzio....so no one really knows.

David has been using kinmans for a few years now.

and yeah he was in the bridge almost all night!

and hey what do u guys think are they going to tour?

that would be pretty hip

I doubt they will tour after reading Gilmour's comments, but as you can guess from my username, I'd give anything to see it. Isn't it technically possible that he put an EMG SAV set in the black strat?

It was on Kinmans site at one point (a little blurb confirming he did) and it was in an interview with his tech saying he's trying out Kinmans...sorry bud, I think I'll beleive the guy who put them in his guitar!
