I'm looking to purchase a new Alto Sax for my niece, as her current sax has been rendered unusable. She's in the Highschool band, and will most likely use this instrument for the remainder of H.S. (3 more years). My budget is under $500. So, who makes a decent sax in this price range? All comments are welcome. Thanks.
when my roommate gets back tomorrow, I can ask him. He's a sax player/music major. I'm a music major too, but I don't know a thing about saxophones. Foamy might be good to ask too.
That'll help a lot. I don't know jack about saxes either.
I'm not really sure about what saxes are good for the money, but It probably wouldn't hurt to find a forum or two for saxes. Checking your local music store and asking A LOT of questions never hurts either.

Wow, I paid $2500 for my Selmer (professional) in '95, and my student (Armstrong) was $1100 in '92!
Selmer Bundy. The same company that makes Bach trumpets.
Like guitars, you usually get what you pay for it. If you go used, let someone check it out first. A pad-job/ general service can be expensive if needed.
Hey, Brandon, where ya at, bro?PM seafoamer. He's a band director.
Cool info guys. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
