Hello All,
I am about to order a few capacitors for my tone knobs and just wondered what you guys recomend-gt; .022 or .047?
I am using them in a PRS style guitar that was hand made for me.
Its got a Maple Cap on a Mahogany body/set neck.
I want to order the Orange drops tomorrow-
500k pots ok?
My choice is A Custom in the bridge and a Jazz neck-
Any Opinions appreciated. Thanks a bunch for your help.
They're cheap enough. Why not just get a variety and experiment.
Yes 500k pots are a good common choice.
I use .022 caps for single coils and humbuckers. They work fine for both.

Ditto what Stevo said, and I totally agree with getting a selection of several capacitors ranging from .001uf to .047uf values.
When you turn the tone control down the .02 value will leave more midrange in your signal than .047.
I prefer .02.

Nice pup choices! I'd say a .022 or .033 would be the way to go especially if you only have one tone pot.

Hey,
Thanks!
Yes- I only have one tone pot and a Gibson style 3 way switch. Its a pretty simple guitar. On the other guitars I have built, I dont have tone pots. They are just wired to a volume and pickup switch. This body and set neck combo already has it drilled so I will put one in.
I was thinking about a splitter on the tone pot maybe-
Can the Jazz be split and used like a single coil?
Thanks for your help everyone. I really appreciate it.
I recently swapped all my caps to .01 really like the slightly warmer and cleaner vibe to them. The .022 and .047 always left me frustrated in the bridge position. The change sounds great in the neck pu as well. Working in all my guitars very nicely.
