I saw it at a pawn shop today, and was wondering if anyone knew anything about it. It says quot;Deluxe Series 737quot; on the headstock. There's no other identification on it. I think it may be a Hondo, but I'm not sure. It's a bolt-on neck. The headstock is slightly larger than a LP, but it's the same shape. The body was made from several sheets of a light colored wood (some of the paint was scratched off the back) pressed together.
The fretwork was nice. The pups (may not be stock - they had covers) were pretty hot. Aside from the headstock and bolt-on neck, it looked pretty much just like a Les Paul. It was one of the better looking copies I've seen. The pawn shop owner said that it was late 60's/early 70's, but he didn't know who made it, so I'm not so sure he knew when it was made.
He wants $250 for it, but I don't think it's worth that much, unless it's some highly sought after lawsuit model. So, does anyone know what it is?
Sorry, I don't have any pictures.
You really need to start taking a camara with you to these places.
Does it look like this:
from : localhost/it's a laminated body, $150.00 tops, especially since it is a no-name and he has no idea who made it either.
EDIT: Looks like it's a Hondo.
Yep. With minor changes, that's just like it.
I have a camera phone, but no way to download the pics. I'm going to have to break down and buy the stuff for it.
On the plus side, they had a 5150 half stack for $1000 and I think the 20% off applied to amps, too. Also a nice MIJ Jackson for a little over $300.
Sweet. Good deal for the 1/2 stack. I wish I still had the 5150 head. I stupidly got rid of it some ten years ago.
What kind of MIJ Jackson was it bro?

I'm not up on the models, so I'm not positive. It was either a dinky or soloist. HSS, trans black, Floyd. Pretty nice guitar. Not my Jackson, but definitely a very playable guitar.

Well, I also found a 50W JCM 900 at Guitar Sinner, so I'm having to weigh my options.
It was purple!

Cool. Was it the 2500 MkIII or MkIV or was it the 4500 Dual Reverb?

It was the MkIV, but when I went back today to play it, it was gone. I didn't figure it would stay long. I did go by and play the 5150. I think I'm going to pull the trigger on it next week.
The MkIV's are the dual reverbs. I hated those things. Gave the 900 series a bad rap when they changed them to 5881's. Oh well. I'll take my MkIII any day of the week.
See if they'll let you put down some cash to hold that 5150. That's definitely a good deal.
Yesterday I played through several Vox Valvetronix models, the 50, 60 and 120. All three are very nice amps. I also tried out a Crate V3112. Killer amp but it sounds much much better with the Tone Tubby 12quot; speaker.
I may pass on getting a combo now and just get an Avatar 2X12. I just love the sound of my Marshall but don't want to lug the 4X12 around too much.
