The landlord isn't home, The Wife is out. Set the mic up Quick and
record some clips. Nope! My son is home and he don't want Daddy playing so Loud. (You can hear him in the back ground causing a rukas) So
this is a quick one. 76' Bird into the PTP wired Laney. I need a speaker for
this amp. What you are hearing is a 70's peavey 12quot; alnico I got from Hoppermart.(garbage picked ) Any speaker suggestions are welcome. 76' Firebird -Laney 2204

pretty good

I have a firebird pickup in the neck of my 56 Jr. I was put in back in 69. Great tones with that pickup.

I am liking the Laney a bunch, you have a great old school blues tone ( and playing!!) on that. I am liking that speaker in the clip. What are you looking for tonewise? What input are you useing?

Hey Ken..... WHy not put a Vintage 30 in that Puppy!, It actually sounds pretty good as is, but I think the V30 would be killer

One man blues show! Pretty cool tones there bro. The speaker sounds pretty solid from here. Is that 2204 number significant to another style of amp

Thanks Guy's

I used the High input That now is wired right to the V1 tube. It's a whole
new beast now. But I gotta warn ya. If you plan on putting one of these
board in your amp? Metroamps know's NOTHING ABOUT LANEY's!! I was
all on my own as far as tech suport. Next time you get to look under the
hood on your Laney, See if you have 2 orange wires coming from your PT.
One is the 90v main the other a.5v Bias tap. Metro tech support told me
to cut the 2nd .5v wire and shrink wrap it? It's not needed.Well when I
did that... My power Tubes whent CHERNOBYL Other than that it
was a lot of fun soldering up the board and putting it in. This Peavey
Alnico speaker does breakup just right. But I think I'm going for something
a Lil' more british sounding ? Like Dave mentioned the V30. Or maybe a
redcoat? I played into the weber Cali' 10quot; in my Princeton and it sounded
Great! So now I'm really confused on a speaker choise?
STEVO , 2204 is the Marshall 50 watt Master Volume circuit from the late
70's JMP's and early JCM 800's. I was considering the Plexi 1987 board
for this after hearing your clips But I decided to keep the MV feature.
Atleast untill I get a Weber Mass.

Wooot! Def cool Firebird tone! That Laney sounds very nice too.

Cool clip ...nice playing KMC!

P.S.

I thinking a greenback 25...will break up a bit quicker

How many watts is that? Perhaps an Emi Wizard, a very nice g12H30 clone that handles 75 watts yet still acts like a low watt speaker. That Alnico is very possibly an Eminence too if it is from that vintage. The Private Jack is also extremely across the pond. My favorite right now is the swamp thang. Everything sounds amazing through it.

I think my Laney is sounding so good that it is off the desk. I am loving what that amp sounds like.
