Right now I`ve got a 2x12 Avatar closed back cab with 2 Eminence Legend V12s. Really good sounding setup but a little bassy. What else is out there for a crunchy hard rock tone(EVH,Jake E Lee,G Lynch ect..). Only other speaker I`ve tried is the Celestion Vintage 30 and I wasn`t to crazy about it. I`ve heard some of VHoholics clips using a 5150 and Celestion Greenbacks and it sounded pretty damn good. Lastly I will most likely be playing through a Peavey JSX that I plan to pick up Saturday !

A closed cab is pretty much always going to be bassy. I would see if avatar sells the partially open back peice that you could screw on. It'll be cheaper and probably achaive what you want.

I'm partial to Emminence speakers. But, Peavey Scorpions are a really decent make as well.

I like to go with one brighter speaker and one darker speaker, like a V30 and a G13H30 or a Private Jack and a Governor. One speaker will provide the range the other won't, thus giving a better frequency response.

I really like my Ruby SP12CELs, clear, take a while to break up, a bit extra thump and bite..... Only reason I want to get rid of them is I don´t agree with Ruby Tubes´ / Magic Parts´ business practices... Eminence is what I´m also looking into...
