just got my micheal angelo batio instructional dvds and i must say he has become one of my favorite players. I am really going to enjoy learning quot;no bounderiesquot; for sure although the bouncing my hand from under to over is strenuous. not sure i want to do that. I have heard some say he is faster and better than yngwie, and tough he is right up there I dont think he is better than yngwie. Definatly an excellent teacher. What do you think of him?????

Well if i may, who do you like? Just curious. What style do you play who are your influences, and what about their playing do you admire? Not offended if you donquot;t care for most shredders. Not at all. I admire some of them and have learned much from them and still am, yet i want the music i do to transcend what my influences have already done. I have changed styles a few times since i started playing guitar about ten years ago i just turned 34 last month. I do a style of music that is part modern part electronica and part shred. The idea being that drawing from all these different influences i want to play music that is at once true, powerful, personal, beautiful, virtuostic (when and where it needs to be), multifaceted and spiritual. Current yet drawing on other than modern sources. i heard Roland Orzabal of quot;tears for fearsquot; say once that they make music for quot;heart, mind, and bodyquot;, and thats close to my heart yet i would add spirit to that list. So please share if you like.

i think his hair is a little out-dated

That guy can sure play guitar, Ive seen a video or two where he actually plays slow passages (No not a typo ) and he really has a great sense of melody.

If you watch him up close, his playing doesn't even look human......just a bizarre amount of technical skill. His music doesn't appeal to me much, but as a guitar talent, he's always worth watching. He's almost like a circus carnival of chops!

By shredders I meant the likes of Yngwie, Batio, Fransesco Fareri, Paul Gilbert, Rusty Cooley, etc.
Their music doesn't appeal to me all that much. I do like a lot of Paul Gilbert's work in Racer X and a few of Batio's pieces (No Boundaries is a great composition), but on the whole I find that these players seem to fire out as many notes as possible without having a sense of melody or meaning behind them.

I'm mainly influenced by classic rock and metal, some of my favourite players being Dave Gilmour, Van Halen, Jimmy Page, James Hetfield, Randy Rhoads, John Schaffer. Alexi Laiho, Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, and Dimebag are also among my favourites, and although these guys quot;shredquot;, I find that they do it tastefully, and with a great sense of melody.

That's my 2 cents anyway.

i personaly find him irritating and droll. (SORRY!!!)
learn how to sweep like him and then chose not to would be the best thing anyone could do.
he is whats known as a guitar wanker!!! ie. he wanks his guitar
not great lo listen to at all.
anyway the best sweeps in the world are just chords played in on averly dificult fation.
if you can put a sweep in for maby a quater of a second ppl will go quot;wow!quot;.
sweep every chord in a song and peoples ears will bleed!
as for being able to sweep with each hand without picking on a guitar with 2 or 4 necks.... WHA???
i bet his bedroom has a toilet.
