Guys, I have an opportunity to trade in both my jap strat and GandL legacy towards a PRS McCarty . . . . three way toggle and coil tap . . . . what do you guys think?

Ty

See my Avatar--Do it, I would

Thanks Dom, you like it?

Come on guys, chime in, I need to take care of this in a few days . . .

Ty

I would do it. If I could get a PRS like take the opportunity.

If you like the guitar by all means get it, you may not get another deal like it.

well the thing is too, after crunching some numbers, Id still be short 800bucksish . . . so theres a cash element here too,

Ty

If you'd prefer having the McCarty over the other two guitars and the cash... do it.

I don't really have a hting for PRS but do for strats, so I say keep your strat. But go try one out and see for yourself.

Can you comfortably get rid of both these guitars plus cash in exchange for one? I had to sell 5 of my guitars this year to get 2 american BC Riches. I never looked back. I don't regret selling them one bit. I had one for 10 years, my first decent guitar. The others I had had for ranging from 2-4 years. It was well worth it in my mind.

It all depends on wether the guitar is worth that much in your mind

cash and 2 guitars? absolutely not

dont you need at least 2 guitars? ... one for a spare/backup for when you are touring?

i love my mccarty ... but i would be hard pressed to trade 2 $ for one

good luck either way

t4dsame here.. if it were just the two guitars I'd do it in a flash.. maybe $500, but not $800

Weigh the options in you own mind, think of what styles you can play to a tee using the PRS and think of the styles that you're sacrificing when giving up the Fender and Gamp;L. The McCarty is not gonna twang like what you'd be giving up that's for damn sure, but if you've been looking for that kind of playability and thickness, then maybe you're in luck. I like PRS's and all but I wouldn't give up two otherwise great guitars just for one.

P.S.- Think of your name! It would be blasphemy.

I would never trade a Gamp;L, for a PRS.

i will stick with the legacy and jap strat and save the $800 towards buying the mccarty or any other guitar i want.

hmmm, this is all great food for thought, thanks guys . . . I'll be thinking about it,

What do you guys think of this price . . . 3200.00 (canadian) for a new Custom 24 with bird inlays?

That's $2600 USD, which I think is pretty close to what Luke Duke paid for his, but I'll let him chime in on that one.

PRS guitars don't excite me, but there are many who swear by them. Luke's is nice, though I'd never tell him that. You should play one first to make sure.
I'm working on that clip, by the way.

Not sure that any guitar is worth 2 others plus cash down, but if the piece turns you on, I say go for it.

Absolutely not!!!! 2 guitars cash for a PRS. No way.

On a more balanced note, have you tried playing different styles with the PRS? Consider the tradeoff in what you will have to give up tonewise for the relatively different tones of the PRS.
