For a while, at least.
Biggest reason? Because I can go into a GUITAR CENTER, and walk out with this:
, a 40 dollar leather strap, straplocks, and case, all for $750.
It never ceases to amaze me. These cheap, Korean made guitars keep on playing, sounding, and looking better than many USA made models.
I played some PRS's to compare; Just couldn't get into the neck. It was too round and fat for me, and the sound wasn't that inspiring unplugged. I played a CE22 maple top and a Standard 22 in some insane platinum color.\
There were 4 of these C-1 Classics on the wall. 2 Blue's, and 2 of that Amber color. To be perfectly honest, I never even touched the amber ones. They just look like barf on a quilt maple top. Out of the two blue's, mine was spoke to me. Coincidentally, it was lighter, better sounding acoustically, played better, and had a much more defined quilt grain.
Now, I know this is a veneer. The natural binding all around the body is clearly mohogany, not maple, and near the lower strap button, you can see where the neck thru pieces come through. That said, I can't see more than 3 pieces on the body, and the neck is only more than one piece because it has those walnut stripes running through it.
The neck is just like my current Schecter, which is a good thing. Again, the fretwork is immaculate; no deadspots, low or high frets, excess filler, etc. The inlay work, while somewhat gaudy, is very well done, as well, with little filler, again.
The finish is also very good. It feels and looks stronger than on my other Schecter, which is a good thing; that thing looks like it's been through hell and back! There is some finish bleed from the top into the binding, but it's not that noticeable unless you're really looking for it.
The tone...dear lord. I love it. It's so rich and warm and great, and the JB/Jazz with the 5 way megaswitch is just... ah. I can't describe it. I'm playing cleaner styles way more often, and it sounds godly!
I can't think of anything more to say, so behold!

Awesome!
Just wondering, what'd you do with the RR-1?
Cool guitar. That's a nice shade of blue. Your GC has a pretty nice Schecter section too. It is pretty amazing that Schecter can make a guitar that good for the cost they sell it to GC for. Apparently, you sold the Jackson RR-1. Who bought it?
Enjoy! New guitar day is always a good day!
The RR-1 is on it's way to a member of the JC Forum. I actually made 50 bucks on it, too.
That's true now that you mention it, Joe. The GC in Oxnard usually has a better selection than most, and even better than the Hollywood one at times I've been there.
Let's hope new cab day in a week or two will be just as nice, when my Splawn comes in.
I thought of you when I drove through your city last weekend. Of course, I had to stop at the GC around Oxnard, just to check it out. The Schecter that grabbed me was the reddish 12 String. I almost couldn't believe it was $599, because it was one of the best playing 12 string electrics I've ever picked up. I probably even saw the one you own!

I probably even saw the one you own!I played that one today, too, actually! Small world. Next time you'll be driving through Ventura, shoot me a PM, or we can exchange numbers, and meet up sometime. I'd suggest going out for a drink or two, but just going on the fact that I'm not even old enough to get my permit, let alone drink...
Although, on your off time, there's a wicked cool hangout spot for people like you downtown, called Paddy's
I would like the C-1 classics a lot more if the inlays weren't so gaudy. What I'd love to see is a C-1 thats neck through with an bound ebony board with no inlays and an Original Floyd Rose. Schecter comes close with the C-1 FR though. I do have to say those Schecters are so easy to intonate and set up it's crazy!
Nice guitar. Nice finish choice too.
And didn't you want to get rid of the JB? Finally you have come to your senses again
Very cool guitar.... Congrats!!
As I said before, thats an awesome guitar Jeff. And GJ, your right, Schecter are completely ****ing awesome
Sweet axe. I came very close to getting that same guitar, but bought my DeArmond instead. Two totally different beasts, but I ended getting the DeArmond because it was slightly cheaper. Nothing can top a Schecter for the price, unless you do some great searching in the used market. They are great guitars. Good luck with that one!
Schecters ROCK!
My '00 V7 is still going strong.
Remember when all the MIK bashers were saying
how MIK guitars would be falling apart in two years?
Guess they were the fools.
My V7 is holding up strong.
I've used it for rehearsals, gigs, and in the studio.
Still playing great.
And I haven't had to repair a thing on it.
The new C1 exotic, Hellraiser C7, and 007's intrigue me.
Someday, someday.

thats not an ebony board popples.. or if it is, its a really ****ty one .. looks a LOT like rosewood to me
though excuse me if you refered to a dif guitari really dont like quilt tops, but that inlays looks interesting.
i find the schechter neckthrough heels a bit bulky ..
color is noce though =)
glad you like it
I found the Schecter neck thu heel and the new set neck heel quite smooth.
The old set neck neel was real bulky.

wow, that natural axe is .. WOWniiiice
congrats young gun ... enjoy and play in good health ... that's a sweet looking axe
cheers

All that for 750$... I'm in love!
Please not it holds not a candle to Bad Coconuts LOL.
Schecters are awesome. I absolutely love my C1 . The area they seem to cut costs most in is the finish. Each guitar has little inconsistencies on it, whether a little bit of paint splattered on the binding, or some weird colors or whatever.
On a guitar that plays and sounds as solid as those though, I'll just call the imperfections quot;character.quot;
EDIT: Sometimes I wish they made a 22-fret C1. I like the neck tone better on a 22-fret. But maybe I'm just being picky.
What does the 5 position switch do? And are the knobs master volume/master tone?

My next axe is 95% sure going to be a custom shop C-1. Same config as the Classic, but with 22 frets, different inlays, and a 1/4quot; green quilt top, with gold hardware
Master volume, Master tone (which I need to fix...it doesn't do anything until you roll it to 2, then it cuts out all the way), and the 5 way switch positions are as follows:
1: full power BRIDGE Humbucking sound.
2: single coil sound with hum cancel - Bridge amp; neck pickup's in parallel (bridge side coil's)
3: full power Humbucking sound with hum cancel - Series (neck side coils)
4: single coil sound with hum. cancel. - Parallel (neck side coils)
5: Full power NECK Humbucking sound.
