I am thinking of ordering a guitar (strat model) with a Floyd trem and EVH D-tuna . also in the back there will be a tremsetter to keep the floyd in tune when the D-tuna is switched.Does anybody uses the same setup and what do you like/don´t like about it ????

i tried one on and EVH art series charvel which has a flat mounted floyd so it only dive bombs and doesn't pull up...anyway, it was great on there, could come in real handy. as for the exact setup you want, never tried it with a tremsetter...sorry.

I believe MrHeavyMetal has a guitar with a D-Tuna and a Tremsetter. Maybe he'll chime in for you.

The one thing to kkep in mind with the D-tuna is that if you crank the trem back it will hit the body,so you may want to think about having a small channel routed there.
Good thinking on the tremsetter,it makes all the difference with the D-tuna for stability.
Just pay attention to which lock screw you insert in the back to secure it to the trem. They usually have 2 sizes, take your time and use the right size.
With the tremsetter, measure carefully before trimming the brass rod.
Also, tune and lock the strings on the trem before setting the rod.

The problem I have is ... we play a few songs in a drop-D tuning so nowadays I have to switch guitars the whole time .

So I have on stage 2 guitars in E (one spare) and 2 in D (one spare)

Also a Acoustic 6 and a 12 string

I am the only guitar player in the band and also the leadsinger so there is nobody to cover the guitarpart for me if something goes wrong during a song .

6 guitars on stage is nice , but not if you are playing in a small club . So I have to find a solution if we play small gigs .

If this works out great I will mod all my guitars this way

I have one that haven't used in ages, I don't like having my trems blocked or restricted in any way, so I took it off and it's been in a guitar case for a year or two. I had actually forgotten all about it until I saw the title of this thread. Like JohnJohn said if you do wish to raise the pitch w/ your whammy, the Dtuna will hit the body....this problem is even worse if you have a recessed floyd. Anyway, if you're interested in just a Dtuna I'd be willing to let mine go.
cheers,
Matt

Once you install it it acts just like any other Floyd saddle.Just a few extra things to check during set-up is all.

I have one on my Wayne Rock Legend and I LOVE it!!

Easy to install, works perfectly.

Must be on a blocked Floyd, as already noted, but it's a great time saver if you have a Floyd/locking nut scenario.

Exactly. I have one on my Silhouette.

I had one on my kramer when it was still together and it rocked!

Trem setter is a good idea for keepin it in tune though.

I have one, it works nice once it is setup right.
I then took it off again.
Never used it much.
