I was wondering if anyone owns a ibanex s or rg series guitar and how
they like it. im looking for a good shred heavy metal guitar to put some duncans in. I especially like the s-470, rg-350ex, and js guitars.
thanks again for puting up with my general no sense questions. chris
ive got an RG 370, its beautiful!, its got the nicest neck, action, playability etc... and the pickups in it have really good harmonic respoonse.. although you will be changing them... ive played a few S series ones.. i love them to but i'd go and RG. good luck
1994 RT 650 / Vintage trem. Killer and reasonable on ebay. It's a sleeper..
i love playing my friends RG2570. My only woes-hand aches from thin wizard neck, and the tone of the neck pickup is a bit too quacky and percussive, not deep and rich like most neck humbuckers (most likely because of the 24 frets)
Other than that, the guitar plays like a dream. Awesome fretwork, great bridge (for the higher end models).
Early RG's (circa 87-88) are the sex!
I had an RG570, the thing couldnt sustain for anything on G past the 12th fret. Loved it though. I suggest going with the S series.. i played an S520(or was it 540?) in a shop and it played pretty good, i was impressed. I just say stray away with their cheaper models with floyds, including the 1570.
Have an RG7420 (7 string), once I'd changed the pickups and blocked the trem it was fine, although the neck is a bit thin, it kinda evens out the wideness on a 7 string.
i had an rg 470 or something like that, i got it for cheap. I sold it, was an ok guitar, i prefer my rr1 =) ibanez's pickups were actualy not that bad.

^ wat he said.
My most played guitar. Truly wonderful peice of wood (Prestige Sabre 1220)
lol anyone realize foamer just quoted....HIMSELF hahahahaanyway, i've owned a bunch of IBZ's over the years, RGs and S series and even a destroyer. my main guitar for a few years was a modified S370 with EMGs and a custom finish. it was a great player for a lower priced guitar! i had no complaints. i just got into a tele/strat kick and sold it. i'm currently looking for an old square heel RG with an all maple neck to add to my bunch since foamer is right, those were the SH!T!!!

I have 2 RG750's and once I swapped out the good but not for me stock pups and popped in some DiMarzios, they are new guitars. Yu get used to the thin necks in time.
My advice is stay away from the new ones under the 15XX series, or find yourself an older 5xx or 7xx series. You're changing the pups anyway, so you may as well save yourself the $$ and get the best trem.
Cheers!

i have both, i prefer Duncans in my Ibanez, i find them better sounding.
if you are interested in Duncans in Ibanez, this 2005, the Ibnez SZ series have 'em as default pickups.
I have an RG 1570. After I bought my Les Paul sits in its case gathering dust. I didn't think much of the current wizard II necks, they are okay. The prestige necks are awesome IMO. I played an SZ520 the other day and it's got a great neck and good sound. I'm looking for a fixed bridge and that's at the top of my list.
