ok, tube gurus...question for ya..
in your experience....how do you get the 'best' sound outta your amp? I know it's subjective, but i'm interested in thoughts/theories/whatever....
do you crank the main volume up and reign in the individual channel volumes (preamp) a little? or do you keep the main down and crank up the individual channel volumes (preamp) up?
cranking up both would result in blown out windows most likely..hehehe.....
I play with both until I find a blend that works for the sound I want.
Right now, my channel volumes are running at about 1/2 open, and my master volumes are at 6 (normal) and 8 (solo).
I think balance between channel volume and master volume (if your amp has a master volume that works across all channels) is important. If either one is too low, it strangles tone.
that's alotta **** you got runnin' there..got any clips? =)
you're another one with a ton of stuff, ac..lol

I usually run power amps wide open and adjust the volume with the preamp. It works for me.
I set the Clean channel gain to acheive the cleanest signal possible, between 3-4. I set the OD channel gain to about 5-6 depending on how much distortion i need and set the OD channel volume to balance the volume to the clean channel settings. I use the Master Volume control to set the overall volume of the amp so when i switch from clean to OD, there are no surprises.
