I can't let JeffB have all the fun. This thing is just yummy...I like it...I'd like it a lot more if it had chrome hardware...I just can't stand gold.....*shrug*
Every one of these I've seen (mCNaughts) has had absolutely gorgeous wood, but I just can't warm up to the design for some reason???...inlays and headstock I guess....
It's an interesting take on the LP thing. Has a very distinct quot;Grateful Deadquot; vibe to it. Never seen that before, everyone else is trying for the 'Vintage 1950squot; look, this is kinda refreshing. Even the headstock is kinda Alembic like.

Looks like it has a black limba back, very cool. I would love to own a McNaught.
I also really dig Benavente's take on the classic Les Paul. I like how the slightly different direction of the lower bout sets it apart of most other LP-like guitars in a really discrete manner. Usually Benavente 2k's have a more LP-like lower bout though, unfortunately (see last pic).

The first one up top has killer looking wood.... I just happen to think that it would look better on a coffee table though. It just doesn't do anything for me on a guitar.
FYI, Splawn amps can be customized with a McNaught front panel ...
I've seen that, TO, and should I ever decide to give Splawn a call, I'll be ordering a QR with a black dyed quilt maple panel.
I've posted a pic of it before so I'll refrain this time, but for those of you that like to check out the Willcutt site check out the black dyed top McNaught. Absolutely amazing.
Jeff, I think the only ting I don't like about the McNaughts is the headstock. I appreciate the desire to differentiate a single cutaway from a Les Paul, but in this case the headstock screams a little too much BC Rich for my tastes. But I might be able to live with the headstock so long as the guitar was a serious player and everything else was cosmetically perfect.
Anyone know what these McNaughts go for? I'm afraid to email Willcutt and ask.
The body shape looks like LP meets Tele with an 85/15% split. I like it. Too bad none of the guitars has a fixed, string-through bridge though.
What's up with the location(s) of the string ferrules in the Benavente? Seems to me like a constant break angle over the saddles would be better IMHO. It looks like appearance is driving the design, but maybe there's some rationale???

Actually, I think the break angle over the saddles is pretty constant, considering the distance of the ferrules in relation to the angle of the top carve. The angle over the bridge is pretty small too, due to the recessed bridge. The only thing is, that this makes the angle over the edge of the ferrules very sharp. I'm pretty sure they thought of that though
