Yo,
Has anyone out there ever played/owned a guitar with an all maple body? I've heard they are quot;brightquot;. The ESP SC 600 comes in maple and it's pretty badass looking.

I think the main reason most people don't use a solid maple body is
for weight . A LP is only around 1/3 maple. And it's pretty heavy.

Maple is incredibly heavy. And bright tone does seem to be a residual result. However, I've got a 1980 model Washburn Falcon made up of alternating laminates of Maple and Walnut. It's an amazing instrument.

I'm making a maple Strat, but with a slightly different design. It's not done yet, so I'm not sure how it sounds. I've heard maple is good for smaller bodies.

Mape is the wood of choice for back and sides of High end Archtops. It adds a lot of punch and snap to the guitar. As far as a solid body goes.... I think Alder, Mahogony or Basswood would be a better choice!

George Lynch's tiger strat is made of maple. That's the guitar sound on Dokken albums. The ESP kamikaze guitars he use are maple body too.

My Westbury deluxe has a laminated maple body. The tone is bright with a lotta bite to it. It's a bit heavy, but you get use to the weight. When I owned a Mashall JTM 60 combo and had a JB pup in the Westbury, I could get the sound on the song Wicked Sensation!

I used to have a Washburn Nuno B. model that had a padauk (sp?) neck and body, the Warmoth website says that padauk sounds a lot like maple, it had a JB in the bridge and a '59 in the neck with a Floyd...it screamed in a good way!!
