When bending on the low E, shouldn't I bend it towards the floor instead of up? because you all know that if I bend it up, it is gonna go out of the fretboard..The reason why I ask is I'm trying to learn a song where there is a full bend on the 18th fret on the low E string, but I don't think you can bend it enough to get a full bend before it goes out of the fretboards width, I haven't tried it though, but, what do you say?

im surprised youve considered bending it away from the floor - ive always bent the wound strings (E A D) towards the floor, it just makes sense

Well it's partly because I read on a homepage that you should bend the strings up, and because in the guitar tab programs the quot;arrowquot; showing the bend is pointing up..Remember I never had a teacher so I'm always gonna have some stupid question, but as long as I get them answered it doesn't matter.

The low E should be bent downwards. All other strings are bent up.

At least that's what I do. (Although when I started playing without a teacher, I bent all the strings down... seemed natural to me... )

I think I bend the E and A down, the rest up. Sometimes if it's a quick quarter step inflection I might bend others down, but I think for the most part I bend them up. I need to practice non reinforced bends, I always use two fingers it seems.

I bend the wound strings down, and unwound strings up for the most part, although I have occaisonal exceptions. For example, sometimes I'll go against that if there's a finger in the way or something like that. Also, I find pulling down a bit quicker and easier, so sometimes if I need to just do a quick half step bend I'll just pull down.

Yeah, I bend the bottom three down, the top three up. Its vibrato i have a problem with though, I cant get my vibrato on the top E to stay on the board.

1 to the three up, three down rule.

Can I ask which song? For some reason, I'm thinking of the end of the last solo in Enemies of Reality.

No, it's not a Nevermore song, basically it's a movie theme, maybe you'll get to hear it sometime.

Low E, A and D Strings bend down. G, B and High E strings bend up.

General rule, but not always. Sometimes I bend the G string down also, but the B and High E always up.
