I bought a new tone zone for my lone star strat and it is real cool but i keep hearing that the air version is even better?
it has been said that the air version is still mean enough to get down and do some real heavy stuff but overall it has a better tone?

The difference is that the Air Zone has lower output than the Tone Zone - they're voiced pretty much the same. If less output = better tone to you, there's your answer.
I don't think so. I have the TZ and I see no reason to try the AZ. How could it really be better?
How much do you like yours? Give us a bit of a review?

I like the TZ but most say the air version is more open and vocal
many have also said that the TZ has a quality like a distortion pedal is on all the time and the air version does not.

That's right. I've owned both, they do sound different. The AZ is more balanced and doesn't have the kind of quot;pushquot; as the TZ. However, the mids are similar in nature: both pickups shoot through the mix without any effort. You can imagine the Air Zone as a cleaner and more balanced sounding Tone Zone. Both are great pickups in the right guitar.

I may buy one used from WALT if he still has it and it is f spaced
I think it may be a bit more musical sounding from what i have heard about it.
I think that it depends on what you want from the pickup. The way I've understood it, without trying the AZ, is that the AZ is simply more open and has less of a drive. But I quite like the drive of a TZ! I don't know if the AZ is as thick as the TZ is, if it's a quot;TZ lightquot; -pup. And I've often tried to steer away from all quot;lightquot; products, at least with food!
