this is my first SG and i'm so glad i got it!!
i just finished with the mods...
chrome hum ring, white JB, 500K cts pots, .047 orange drop and switchcraft jack, chrome mini toggle to replace the black factory one, chrome knobs, schaller strap locks, blank truss rod cover and a white strap to finish it off (my camera is acting odd, sorry for the so-so picture)
this guitar is AMAZING. it is the lightest guitar i think i have ever owned the neck is FAT and the tone is FAT also. such a killer guitar. now i want another SG for sure. i can see myself playing them often. very comfortable guitar that plays like a dream and sounds fat and mean!

No pickgaurd??? oh well, amazing guitar. I have een waiting awhile for you to post this beast.
nah, no pickguard. pickguards on the SG-Xs make them look a bit odd or cheap to me. i think it's just the strange shape they use on it that looks bad to me.

Yeah I was thinking of an SG Jr pickgaurd for some reason....
Ahhh....are you serious Mike? I never thought you would ever be much of a SG guy??????
Thats so not your usual style bro!

Remember, it's not your conventianol(Sp? oh god lol....) SG, it's a 24 fret, bridge pickup only axe.
god******... I can't remember how to spell that bloody word....
Dave, i never thought i'd be an SG guy either thus why this is my first one. being that it's a 1 hum guitar it was all me so i took a chance and bought it!! i love it, very comfortable to play and sounds great too! now i want another regular SG to go with it hahahaha
-Mike
Nuthin' cheap looking about it! The stock pickguards are single-ply I think. I'm all about the 3-ply!! Black / cream / black!!
Nice axe just the same!!
ok, well not cheap...that may have been a bad word to use. it just looks a bit quot;oddquot; to me i guess. but i'm always about less is more and clean and simple. thus why i love that it's a 1 hum guitar!!
-Mike
You do realize that you now have my dream guitar in your position, don't you?
Well, if you didn't, now you do!
I LOVE THAT GUITAR!
nice axe.
It does look cheapish. (no offence). Without sure looks good.
I don't get SGs. The look so cool, but they fit me like absolute crap. The neck always wants to dive into the floor, and it feels like the neck is 4 feet long because of where it joins the body.
Uhh...24 fret SG
I love SG's. My quot;wifequot; is a '78 Standard that I've had forever and was the first serious electric that I bought. Used it for everything up until about 1987, then retired it, although I still use her for studio work. She's in serious need of a refret, though. Nice axe, dude!
Mike, it must be something about the mid 90s (yours too, right?) Gibson that makes em so light, my The Paul is too. Perhaps it's a second quot;golden agequot;, and our axes will be worh 6 figures in a few decades Course by then normal axes might be 5 figures...
Anyways, hell yeah. Though I must say I'll never understand only wanting one pickup in a guitar... leave the guard off by the way
good ****

I remember those, the limited surf color ones were like $450 when they came out. If your gonna grab another...gog, you've sold me anyways The sad thing is now people think they're worth this much. from : localhost/cgi.ebay.com/1998-Gibson-SG-X...QQcmdZViewItem who'd have thought they'd appreciate. Wish I wasn't broke when I was 13, I would have snagged me up a few.

saw one in a pawshop today...black one...never inquired about the price though......bigblack, how are liking that sg-x?...looking good !!!! thinking of getting that pwanshop one for xmas if the price is right....
nice guitar, clean and simple. I'd bet that you will own a SG standard before the end of the year. Now that I have my classicwhite SG standard my other dream guitar is a 2 hum ebony Sg custom with a small '61 guard.
BigBlack, how does the neck of the SG-x compare to your standards neck?
